Casey hospital is a new hospital and is one of the hospitals in the Southern Health Network (http://www.southernhealth.org.au) and is in Berwick, a fair way out of melbourne. (Pronounced Ber-ick) You can find rental accomodation there without any problem, this is a real estate site where you can find rental accomodation.

a three/four bedroom house is going to cost up to $400 per week, a two bedroom townhouse about $160 to $260.
To get around melbourne you really need a car, public transport never seems to go where you want it too, and melbourne is very spread out. You can get a used 1.3 Toyota Echo for around $8000 or you can spend heaps more if you like.
If you need any further help, just let me know.
I hope you have fun here.

Thank you so much for the advise! If you can think of anything else, please continue to post. I am very excited about the move, I hope eveything goes well. By the way, I am single and want to be in an area that has a nice mix of singles and married couples, is Berwick a good place to be? I don't care much for the night life anymore:( so that is not a consideration but I do want somewhere that has a nice mix of things to do and see. Thanks again:wink2:
I'd never heard of Casey hospital, but Berwick is a loooong way out of town. You will definitely need a car. Here is a site with info about the suburb: http://www.berwick-village.com.au/

Hi,
Berwick is about 45 kms south east from Melbourne. It has quite a lot of new housing development with a good mix of people of all ages, young families and retirees. It is a lovely spot to live and I have a couple of friends who live in the area. From Berwick it is easy to drive down the peninsula to the beach, or catch the train for a trip to Melbourne.

Hello,
I am relocating to Melbourne (Casey Hospital) in the next month & would appreciate any suggestions, ie where to live, city vs. suburb. Should I get a serviced apt first? What is a fair price for an apt? What about getting a car? Most importantly, what shouldn't I do? I have friends in Oz and they have helped some but they are not nurses and I thought I should go directly to the source. Any suggestions would be most appreciated:wink2:
