I've been traveling now for a little over 11 years. My biggest problem is that I've gotten hooked on it! I can't stand the thought of committing to spend years in one place and only being able to see new places for a couple of weeks a year. The thought of having to deal with all the issues of hospital politics really bothers me.

I love meeting people, learning new things and can't wait to see what's over the next hill!

There are a lot of us out here. Some of us even run into each other at multiple locations around the country.

thanks for the mail. I work in psych. I did a rotation in Fargo, ND nad a few in Willmar, MN. I am now in NC at cherry hospital. Looking to head to southern florida and am looking for hospitals in that area.....

I travel with Cross Country. They work well for me, and I have heard good things from others about several other companies - in particular I have heard good things about HRN and Sagent. I can't say with them from personal experience as I have stayed with the same company all these years. I believe I have even seen ads for a company that specializes in psych in the nursing magazines.

The thing to do is figure out exactly what you need/want from a company and search among them. Some larger companies, such as the one I'm with are good if you want a variety of jobs in many different parts of the country and a large organization of support staff (housing, payroll, clinical liason, etc.). Some find the smaller companies to be more "personal" and prefer that. Some companies may have jobs only in certain parts of the country, but may specialize there and have more assignments that are exclusive. Payrates can vary as can benefits offered. You may want a company that pays top dollar and be willing to live in a motel, or do without benefits, or you might need just the opposite.

This is where shopping around and interviewing a lot of companies is a good idea. Remember you can interview them as well as allowing them to interview you!

I am with Supplemental and have been for 6 contracts. Now that I am 2000 miles from home I am having problems. I can't get a call back, my insurance, I was told, was included and I come to find out it's being deducted from my checks....actually going to an attorney tomorrow to see what rights I have and if the contract I signed is even legal. So stay away from them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
