dear my fellow nurses I live in a area in florida where there not one but two different hospitals. my hospital has a steady flow of travel nurses.
I myself wanted to do travel so I can save money and buy a house my only problem with travel nursing was the housing. where would I stay and still make money where traveling was worth it. so then it hit me. why not buy a house a 3 bed room and two bath and rent each room for 650 a month with water, electricity and internet included with rooms furnish
my question is to you as a travel nurse would you pay 650 for a room every month until your contract was over?
would this be appealing to you?

Housing is included in travel contracts. Why would want to buy a house while you are traveling?

Not a travel nurse, but a recruiter. I would say this would be very appealing to travel nurses because it is a private home and it is owned by another traveler so there is more of a sense of a security compared to a random housing situation. 650/month would be a fantastic price because most of my nurses are getting from 1800-2500/month for their housing stipend so this would help cut down on their costs drastically. If you do go through with this decision it would be best to post your housing on the travel nurse facebook groups. There are a few that are dedicated for travelers to just find housing and have upwards of 50k+ members.

$650 is a value proposition these days for a house share. I'd do it! Share availability with hospital staffing - you may get residents and locum tenums as well as travel nurses. List on AirBnB too with the suggestion that you are interested in travel nurses for entire contracts. There are also several companies that specialize in temporary medical housing that may be a good deal for you, with insurance and guarantees I would assume.
Tax tip though, rent only two of three bedrooms. Reserve the other for your exclusive use. That retains your tax home status and allows you to in turn receive tax free housing and per diems in your travel contracts, not to mention a place to decompress after a couple assignments.
You may find there is an issue in getting a loan. It will have to done based on your current staff income. Banks are unlikely to consider prospective rental income. You may need a cosigner.
But congrats on a great plan! Houses tend to keep their value or appreciate and it sounds like the area is sound. Roommates will assist in paying the mortgage and maintenance expenses. A local person to help manage your property would be a good thing. Find reliable local service people who will quickly respond to needs, plumbing, HVAC, and electric.

As I recall, there was something about having to live in the purchased property in order to get the loan in most financing cases. Getting a loan for income property or 'vacation' property, not one's principal residence, is very difficult.
Travel nurses are working away from home. They still live in their home. A change of job will not come up in a loan application.

Depends on location and not just for nurses. I live in Idaho and have a walk out basement with high ceilings and a window in each bedroom (3). Each bedroom has its own bathroom and I completed this walkout in high end materials. I rent to Medical Doctors here for their residency. It works out well because they really are never here and when they are they are sleeping. The laundry room, kitchen and living room are community. I get a tidy sum and it is a business for us. Sometimes we rent to a young family for a year so they can save monies for a house. All utilities are included to include internet and cable.
What works is being near a teaching hospital, and medical school which I am.

i heard there was construction on a new area which gave nurses big discounts, and most owners were nurses or police officers, look it up it is on east coast I think.Your doors need good locks and common areas need some type of camera, have happened to borders by another boarder...need I say more/...be very careful.
