Travel Nurse contract.

Hello! I have a question. I signed up with an travel company back in November. I asked for an assignment to Hawaii so I could spend time with my husband, whose in the military. Well, they kept promising assignments and nothing ever materialized so I decided to take a chance and apply for permanent position in Hawaii on my own. Well I traveled there for a few interviews but I never received any offers. Then yesterday, my recruiter called with an assignment and I said I would take it. Well, He haven't sent me a contract but he sent me a list of compliance paper. The facility required a sign contract.I paid for my own labs, tiers and etc. So this morning, I git offer for a permanent position in Hawaii and I want to take it. Because I verbally agreed to take the assignment, will I be held liable if I dont take the assignment?

If you did not sign a contract you are not committed to work an assignment for that travel company.

It is pretty difficult to be penalized by a contract you haven't seen and signed. Until you plow through the compliance paperwork, you are not even eligible. Did you interview with the hospital?

You should call the agency and tell them you won't be pursuing their assignment anymore as you have been hired as staff.There are many applicants for every Hawaii assignment so no one is damaged, but it is common courtesy to tell them your new status.

No signed contract, no commitment to job. TC sounds kind of shady.

****Update*****

So I told the TC that I decided to take the permanent job at the hospital instead of the assignment. They were livid. First, they said they would be fined bec the confirmation was already sent. I told them that they shouldnt have done that bec I never seen or signed a contract. Then they said the hospital is in breach of their contract with them bec I cant hire a traveler who they sent all their info to. Despite the fact that I applied and interview for this permanent job before an assignment offer even on the table. So then the hospital called me back and stated that they recant the permanent offer bec they would be in breach in contract with the TC. I would be eligible to work for their hospital if I complete the assignment first. I told them that's bs bec I never signed the contract and that was totally unfair. I was so angry.

Oh geez ... What a jam. So it sounds like you got screwed out of everything. I would have gone with the assignment and then try to become staff down the road if I liked it there (because who knows if I would even like it?). But that's just me. I'm big on oral contracts personally, so if I give a verbal nod for a go-ahead, I know the other party is going to do things relying on that acceptance and if I reneg, it will cost them and ultimately cost me. That's just my experience and my legal training. For me, physically signing becomes a formality. I never say YES unless I really mean it.

Well, they are still offering me the travel assignment. I definitely learned my lesson this. Think really hard before saying yes!

Ah ok, thought everything was retracted. Glad it's a lesson learned. I've had my own harsh life lessons so believe me I know :)

That is a vital bit of information you left out - you never said it was the same hospital! You cannot work two entities for the same job after you've been submitted and especially after you interviewed.
