I've had no personal experience with any of these companies but have heard good about Valley HealthcareSystems. I talked to INA and was impressed and will probably travel with them in the future. Abettacare seems to have good insurance and so does RN Network if that is what is important to you. One company that was a nightmare for me was Aureous so stay away at all costs.

Good luck in your search. There are some very good companies out there and some terrible ones. If they come across to you like a used car salesman....RUN. And some ie Aureous will be sweet as pie until you sign a contracgt then leave you high and dry.

Thanks for the reply.. that was my first post on the Forums and I love it! anyone else have great travel companies.

From what I've heard, all those companies are very reputable companies. Premier is known for their award winning qualities.

Personally, I'm with Trinity Healthcare and absolutely love them.

Hope this helps.

What does everyone think of "HRN SERVICES" ?:lol2:

Don't know about HRN. Does anyone know about Trustaff or Fastaff? Fastaff's website seems to promise alot but then it seems they might be hiding that they don't pay overtime until after 60 hours and I've heard that their quoted pay doesn't include housing or insurance. Their website seems to "suck you in" and then you get the real story - this is what I have heard??? Anyone know??? Anyone heard of Trustaff????

- How do I find out who pays the most and what benefits without going through the hassle of talking with recruiters?

There is a big list of companies and their benefits at a site that I frequent often for all of my information:

At of all the companies you mentioned, I would be most inclined to go with HRN. They have a better reputation in the travel business from what I have heard the best five years.

As another poster has said, and I agree, highway hyperdermics does not critique or discuss Agencies; There are no opinions on that. Here is a copy of a post of another member:

Highway Hypodermics rates agencies by their benefits and whether or not they returned the questionnaire. Really says nothing about their "goodness". If CCTC and AM participated, they would be at the top of the list.

The VALUE of what we have here at AllNurses is to give honest opinion and share your experiences. It is a big and tricky world out there.

NOTHING takes the place of doing your homework to research who you will be working with and where you plan to go.

I believe that Cross Country is on there and American Traveler is on there also.

Specializes in ICU/CCU/ER/CVICU.

You cannot evaluate these companies without researching. Otherwise you are depending on other folks opinions (and THEY might be the problem instead of the agency). Personally, I have had great luck (so far) with Nurse Choice. They happen to be owned by AMH and I would not go across town with the American Mobile part of AMH nor any of the other 6 sisters. But that is purely my personal views. Some folks swear by them, others at them. On Assignment has presented themselves very well to me and I will consider them in the future. I had a couple assignments with CC and did not like either their attiude or their pay scales. There are folks that love CC.....either I had a dud of a recruiter or something.

Just remember, you are not wedded to ANY agency. If you take an assignment and they don't meet your needs, change the $%^& agency. Yes, it's a hassle jumping thru the hoops the agencies put out there but it's worth it when your agency drops the ball and you have two or three more bidding for your time and services.

Good Luck

I recently signed up with a few agencies and I liked all of them. I decided to go with On Assignment because the recruiter was the most forthcoming about both the good stuff and the not-so-good stuff. A friend who used to travel with Faststaff told me they are very good, but I never researched them so I don't know.

From reading other travelers' posts I got a pretty good idea which companies to avoid. But even then, you still have to do your own research because some nurses have bad experiences with certain agencies while other nurses say their experiences with the same agencies were good. Search back through the posts in this thread and you're bound to find some useful info.

I totally agree that one company may be right for one travel nurse and another may hate it. The biggest thing that I know that makes the difference is the recruiter. And, well, sometimes the nurse in that with some companies you have to negotiate for everything you get.
