travel nurse to california making $3000-6000 per wk

Published

Has anyone out there heard of RN's making $6000 per week on a one week assignment (40hrs)? I had heard this at work and was wondering if this is possible. If so how do I inquire about this? I am looking for a per diem assignment. California was the only state I had heard about.

Thanks!!!!:loveya::loveya:

I think it is unrealistic to believe someplace will pay you $150.00 per hour as a nurse.

I'm gonna take a stab that this '1 week' position was probably not at 40 hours but perhaps at 60 or even 72.

Many, many strke nurses made more than 6 grand for a week of work during our latest strikes.

Some people will pay lots of money for positions not everyone will take. I put it on par with the '200k for work in Iraq' thread. Some think the trade-offs are worth it---many, many do not.

To each his own!

Also, if this position wasn't a line crossing strike postion then, of course, please disregard :)

Yeah, I don't know what they actually paid per hour but I know there were some strike nurses on here, maybe they can clarify.

I would think, though, that if I were making around 70-75 as a per diem then certainly in the ballpark of 100+ per hour would be realistic given the added climate and travel perks.

Then that 6k is really only 5 12's in a week, correct?

Wow.....

My mom has been a nurse in CA for 30 years and she works full time, but she only makes $50 per hour.:D

The biggest bucks for travel nursing assignments are working strikes and even then I doubt it's $150.00/hour. I think you're misinformed.

It depends......How many 12 hour shifts because time and one half after 8 hours applys. Some companies require 48 to 60 hours per week. If not adhered to, money will be deducted from paycheck.....so there are many variables to consider.

I was contacted by an strike agency for the Northern CA Sutter strike back in early Spring. They offered $48.00/hr for 14 days of work. If time and a half were given after 8 hours & the shifts were 12 hours daily, that would be 84 hours per week with a gross of ~$4680.00 (if OT was being paid for anything over 40 hrs, the $6000.00 may be in reach)-but, no where near the 40 hour week at $6000.00 mentioned by the OP. I really think the OP has been seriously misinformed. And, could you imagine the amount of taxes to be paid on that type of salary?
