HI! I am trying to find my first travel assignment.
Just wondering how common it is that a travel company asks you to contact the perspective hospital for an interview? I have been given the phone numbers to contact the hospital for an interview. I thought this was kind of strange.

It depends on the company.
This wouldn't happen to be American Mobile or one of their many subsidiaries, would it?
Cross Country Travel Corps. is the company

Where do you want to travel to? What is your specialty?
After a company has submitted you, they usually will encourage you to talk to the Nurse Manager. This allows you to see that there is a good match and you can discuss particulars like, staff ratio's, days of work preference, etc.
Let us know how we can help. We can not recommend a particular Agency but can perhaps point you in the right direction.

I'm with Medical Express, and they encouraged me to call the Nurse Manager. It actually helped me get the job b/c they can tell that you are interested and it makes the interview process go faster. They always told me to leave a message the first time you call. And if you haven't heard from them in a few days, try to call back but don't leave another message. My nurse manager was glad that I called b/c she was so busy that calling me wasn't her top priority. she basicallly hired me on the phone during the interview. GOOD LUCK!!

Yes, on some assignment-interviews I have been asked by my recruiter to phone the nurse manager. These types of calls are not "cold calls" however; the nurse manager has asked the recruiter that the nurse call him or her after reviewing my submitted profile. I would never presume to call a NM without being informed by my agency/recruiter that the NM had specifically requested it! I have also had nurse managers call me and so it does work both ways; just depends on the facility/NM preference, I guess. Best of luck with finding your perfect assignment!

I just contracted for my first assignment with cctc. I was told that the nurse manager would contact me for a telephone interview---and she did.
