Hey guys. This semester I will be on the trauma floor for med-surg 2 clinicals. I know somewhat of what to expect to see on this floor but I would love some input, advice, anything about having Clinicals on the trauma floor.
Thanks.

I'm so jealous. I wish we had a trauma hospital nearby so I could have clinicals there!

There are different types of trauma hospitals. Depending on what level the hospital, it will dictate your patients. Know your Auto vs. Peds, GSW, motor vehicle accident and what injuries they'll likely have. Know about CTLS fractures.

Patients who are admitted to med/surg/trauma floors are there because their condition might change for the worse. (They may need an ICU/ICR setting if it does). Be aware of S&S of worsening condition in your vital sign patterns and assessments. These basic things will take you in the right direction, even if you have a lot to learn.
