Transferring license from CO to MD...

HI! If someone took the boards and licensed in Colorado, how do they transfer it to Maryland? My husband's ex-wife hasn't ever worked, so she's never paid child support--claimed she was trying to get her ASN and pass her boards. Well, now that she's passed her boards, she took them to get a license in a state where she doesn't even live!!! She's making it sound like did it by accident, and now she can't work in Maryland because she can't get a license there without flying to Colorado, and she can't afford to do that, so she can't pay child support. Oh, and Colorado and Maryland are non-compact states (at least they are according to her).

BTW, I am a real member of this community--I joined when I was a nursing student, it just so happens his ex just got her license, too, and I know I can rely on accurate info here....I'm posting this on a couple of boards because I don't know where I'll find someone who can answer...thanks for listening!

I can tell you that MD is a compact state.

If the nurse got a license in Colorado, even though it is a compact state, unless she keeps a legal residence in that state, the compact part of the license becomes null and void. The compact license is only honored when the nurse keeps a legal residence in the home state, if they move, they need to get a new license.

all states have a process of endorsement where one can obtain nursing licensure in another state based on having active nursing license. each state has own regs--involves filling out a form and paying a fee. takes few weeks to 1-2 months depending on the state.
