Transferred to WGU today

Published

I just couldn't take Indiana Wesleyan anymore. I could kick myself for going through them in the first place; I could be done with WGU by now.

Regardless, I will be starting on September 1, and hope to be done with my BSN by January.

I am considering continuing with my MSN, and then doing a post-MSN FNP program.

It was explained that their qualifications have changed and they will no lover accept these courses without a lab. I am not lying or making this up and will be happy to show anyone my course review and the explanation email that I received with it.

I wasn't accusing you of lying, and if I gave that impression please accept my apologies. This has to be a very recent development, which is upsetting because their latest transfer guidelines do not reflect this. But now I am wondering how they will provide a "lab" for these competencies.

No worries and I too am wondering how they plan to pull that out of a hat. If their program is competency based how can they not accept credit from a competency based program themselves? Pot meet kettle.

Oh, wait. So those classes you took through Excelsior did not have a lab component? Not even an online lab?

Nope. They were competency based exams. Which, WGU is also competency based so I am not really clearing why this change has been made.

Did they say why? At first they wouldn't accept my A&P and Micro from Rio Salado because the transcript didn't specifically specify that there were lab components. I jumped through a few hoops and got it clarified that there WERE indeed (online) labs for these classes, and they accepted them.

They said they didn't have labs ANC ouldnr accept them. I am not clear how WGU is going to provide labs either and have asked for a long clarification regarding all of this.

SweettartRN,

WGU isn't taking Excelsior's A&P & Microbiology?

You can get both done at Straighterline since Straighterline partners with WGU. Plus, Straighterline is self-paced.

Yes, but I can take it through WGU free, as part of my 6 month coursework so why would I pay extra to do that? That makes no sense!

Just trying to help you. I didn't know that it was part of your 6 month coursework.

Thank you for letting others know about this.

Just wanted to give everyone a head's up. My advisor today suggested that it might be a fluke that my Excelsior classes weren't accepted because he said he has never seen this before.

I should hear back from the transcript appeal department in a couple of days.

Keep us posted.

It's official. WGU absolutely will not accept Excelsior A&P and Micro. They claim it has to do with their accreditation status but I call BS.

If I have already taken the class I do not see why I have to repeat it and I got no answers except that nonsense about accreditation. Excelsior students should consider this unless they have taken A&P and Micro elsewhere. This is garbage if you ask me.

I know I'm venting and I apologize it's just a bit frustrating to not get clear answers.
