Training on Dialysis

I want to attend a training program on dialysis treatments.

Where can I train?

Which one offers the best training?

How much is the program fee?

How long is the training?

I've been looking on the website of National Kidney and Transplant Institute but can't find any info about it. If you can refer training centers and their contact numbers, I would highly appreciate them.

Thank you as always.

Does Nephro accept applicants for employment trained from a different institution?

Regarding staff hiring, the priority are those who have undergone training in our program, preferably those who have just finished or who are about to finish, or depends upon the head nurse's recommendation.

Those trained from other institution are still considered but they have to undergo re-training if they are lined up for employment.

Nephro group of dialysis centers is the mother company of nephrology center manila. (hence the term "group of dialysis centers", meaning, there's more than one center that exists.)

nephro center manila has basic HD nursing training program.

There's no "best" institution.

Each program has its flaws. Focus much on theory, and the trade-off will be on skills. In the long run, you have to adjust to a steep learning curve once you get hired by a hospital or acute dialysis facility since you'll be, more or less, on your own. Your co-workers won't be assisting you everyday regarding your judgement and decision making skills once complications occur. Mind you, it's easier said than done.

Focus much on theory, and the trade-off will be on knowledge. This is where I needed to catch up in my first months as a staff nurse. I ended up reading 3 manuals of hemodialysis and regularly going back to MS books and online forums to enhance my knowledge.

For me, it's better to gain the upper hand on SKILLS.

So choose the training program that enhances your skills. Nephrogroup's program intensely focuses on skills. 100 cases of cannulation, 100 cases of termination, 10 cases of subclavian initiation, 10 cases of subclavian termination. Plus, you will feel as if you're a staff nurse since you do most of the things that a staff nurse does, INDEPENDENTLY.

Asia Renal Care's program is also good.

Regarding training, I heard that a newly opened dialysis clinic near a famous mall up north has problems regarding staff skills.

From what I heard, it's the headnurse that cannulates most of the patients, and worse, also the physician on duty does the cannulation. Geez, that's not even part of the responsibility of doctors. So what happens is that their patients wait for either the head nurse or doctor on duty. In the end, it greatly impacts their efficiency and productivity.

As in? How about the senior HD staff nurse, arent they allowed to do the cannulation?

They are all allowed. Problem is, the junior staff aren't that good yet. They can't successfully cannulate even a 3 month old fistula.

I recently passed my resume at NEPHRO SYSTEMS PHILS., INC. in Mandaluyong near VRP medical Center. I wanted to have my dialysis training and they have advised me to pass a resume and they will have to assess my credentials if I'm eligible to be trained there. Is NEPHRO SYSTEMS PHILS., INC. in Mandaluyong a good training center?

Nephro Systems is the 1st and main branch of Nephro Group of Dialysis Centers here in the Phils.

They have a high patient census, so it's a good training ground. Make the most of it. Good luck.
