Hi,
I will be working soon in Canada, and will be assigned specifically in Minnedosa. I have heard a lot of good things about the town, and would like to ask anyone who could share or have similar experiences living in the said town.
Many Thanks,

I've never lived in Minnedosa but I've been through there a few times. It's a very pretty town in a shallow valley with the Little Saskatchewan River and Minnedosa Lake right there. It's 32 miles north of Brandon and has a population of about 2500 people. Its economy is largely agricultural. The winters are REALLY cold and the summers are temperate with gigantic mosquitoes. The hospital is small; they have some acute care beds and some long term care beds. Because it's a rural hospital, the staff need to be ready for anything, but most days there's not much excitement. The sicker patients are transfered to Brandon General Hospital or to Winnipeg where there are two tertiary hospitals.
I hope you like it there.

Congrats on getting things sorted. When are you coming over? If late spring early summer then you will be able to buy warm clothing once here before winter starts. We bought some lovely warm coats here which has kept us lovely and warm this winter even when temps drop down to -20 we still was able to go out and walk the dogs. Also bought a good pair of boots which insulates to -40 so we can traipse through the snow
My expected deployment will be this coming May, I'm glad that I don't have to bring winter clothes.:)
Minus 20 is actually a really NICE winter day in Manitoba. This year they've had nearly a month of -30 days. Lots of wind. Quite a bit of snow too. I talked to a former colleague on Tuesday and he said it's been a "bad winter", which means colder than usual. But as Silverdragon102 says, if you dress properly, it's fine.
To janfrn,silverdragon and staff,
Just arrived a few hours ago in Winnepeg,Manitoba. It is just 10degrees but Iam freezing, hehe, not use to it.
Everbody was warm and welcoming, looking forward working with all of them especially our patients.
Godbless,
Don't worry, it'll warm up! Summer is only just getting started and it can be very hot in Manitoba. The town of Virden, just a short drive south of Minnedosa, regularly claims the hot-spot for Canada during July and August. It'll be a different heat than you're used to since it's also very dry there.
Welcome to Canada. I hope you love Minnedosa. Check back soon!
Glad you made the move and survived :)
As Jan mentions it is just warming up and I must be acclimatizing cos I think this May is warmer than last year when we first arrived
