Torrance Memorial new grad

Nurses Career Support

Hello ? looking for more information and insight on the Torrance Memorial New Grad program. Those that have started or gone through this program, how has your experience been?

Can someone who has worked there or is still working there share their thought about this hospital please.

Any insight is truly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi! I am not currently working at TMMC, but am applying to their August/September 2022 cohort, specifically the Burn/Wound ICU. I have talked to one RN who has worked there for 30+ years. She said of course it’s not all roses, but she thinks it’s a very good hospital to work at. From her experience, there are many growth opportunities, management is supportive (ie. they would rather help you move to another unit vs. lose you), and their New Grad RN program is a 6 month program designed to help you succeed. I have talked to 2 close family friends who have had a loved one hospitalized there, and they said they received compassionate care from the nurses/doctors. I’m sure there are cons to working at TMMC as well, but overall it seems to be a good hospital to work at. Hope this helps!

Have you heard anything from them?

I did receive an offer for their Burn/Wound ICU FT Nights position. What about you?

no, I haven't gotten anything. when did they contact you? I applied for the med/surg position.

I had my second interview 7/25. They told me they would get back to me by the end of the week latest, but I got a call/email back 7/26. Not sure how long it’s been for you, but if you haven’t gotten a response after a week, maybe you could contact your recruiter. Best of luck to you!

Hello,

I applied to their med surg position! For those of you that went through the interview process.. how long did it take for you to get an interview? Any ideas on their pay rate ? Congrats to those that got an offer!! I’ve heard great things and hoping I’ll hear back soon!

Hi,

It took two days for them to email be back about my first interview. I'm sure every department is different though. Pay rate is baseline $48/hr for a FT position, not including night differential. I hope you hear back soon, if you haven't already!

Hi! I know it has been a while but I also applied to TMMC today! They opened another new grad cohort for Spring 2023. Do you mind sharing the timeline from when you applied to the hospital to the actual onboarding process?

I am sorry for asking a huge request! However, I really appreciate it ?

Hey Blue,

I applied for the Spring 2023 cohort too! I haven’t heard anything yet from them. All I do know is that their Spring program will start sometime in February 2023. Best of luck! ?

Hi! Thank you for your comment. I actually just heard from them today. I applied to burn ICU and different med/surg positions.

For burn ICU they requested a NIHSS cert so I wasnt eligible although I had everything else. So I am moving forward with med/surg department. HR will msg you about open house event and as far as I believe, that's 1st interview (general) and 2nd interview will be with department managers/recruiters.

Please keep me posted here ? And Thank you good luck to you too!
