Topics covered in Anatomy and Physiology

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I want to self-prepare myself for nursing school A&P. What are the main topics/systems covered in A&P at the college level? Which ones should I review and study the most of? I have purchased Barron's Anatomy and Physiology the Easy Way book and I'm going to get a head start this summer with flash cards and getting familiar with some of the topics that will be covered.

i found this site the other day when someone else asked a question about a&p

http://www.iteachbio.com/anatomy-physiology/anat-phys.html

that is almost my a&p1 class exactly from the human body orientation to the nervous system.

A&P I: body terms, planes and directional terms, cells & tissues, basic chem, integumentry and membranes, cardiac, neuro, muscl/skeletal & joints, circulatory

A&P II were the systems of: endocrine, reproductive, genetics, lymphatic & immune, respiratory, urinary, digestive and special senses (eyes, ears, tongue)

^^ That's how mine was set up, but we didn't do reproductive or genetics (didn't even discuss it in lecture and barely discussed it in lab). The hardest stuff for me was muscle and neurological function, and those are so important to understand. Immunity wasn't too easy, either.

I think it is really smart to get a jump on things. I would suggest going ahead and buying the textbook your professor will use and studying that, since specific information for tests/quizzes will come from that book. It's impossible to learn it all in two semesters, so using your textbook as a guide will help you focus more.

Next week I take the final for my A&P 2 class, but I'm hoping to get a couple of A&P books to read during the summer so that I can continue to improve on the areas that I struggled with during the year.

Enjoy it; it goes by fast!

Mine was similar to CT Pixie's, except we did special senses in 1 and circulatory in 2.
