took NCLEX twice and failed, help

Published

I graduated nursing school (BSN) in December 2013. I took boards in Feb. 2014 and failed with 265 questions. I retook boards in May 2014 and failed with 265 question, even with doing a review course (hurst).

I am now working in clinical research (a new job) and it is September 2014....I have become so bitter about nursing and don't know if I should ever retake the exam. I know the further you get out the harder it is....I am thinking that I should go for it because maybe the third time is the charm?!?! Please help...any advice for studying, reading blogs, or anything really!!!

I feel really ashamed and embarrassed not having my passed boards. :(

Some took their nclex 6-7 times. And they finally passed. Don't just give it up !

I have taken NCLEX twice and failed. Both times I had 265 questions. However I refuse to give up.We got through nursing school and can definitely get through a computer randomized test!!! Dont loose hope. I say go for it.Take the exam again.I am preparing to take a mine a 3rd time next month.

Don't give up Im also a multiple test taker and still trying to pass. Keep trying!!!!!!

I took the nclex twice and failed. Passed on my third try last week. I barely used much the first time I took it got 265 questions; the second time I took it I used hurst and only this, and this screwed me because I thought I was okay just using hurst (when only like 6 questions pertained to what I studied, out of 75). Third time I sat in I reviewed my hurst material, the 35 page study guide, and reviewed some comprehensive material from Maryann hogans comprehensive book (this is a big book, and it's VERY detailed so I did not review the whole thing). The book is broken down into the nclex categories, so if there's an area you are weak in on nclex, this helps. I paid I believe 45 dollars for it. I passed my third time with 75 questions. I prayed a lot, and took my time. I had a ton of SATA and priority questions so make sure you feel okay doing these type of alternative format questions.

Never give up - I battled test anxiety throughout primary and secondary school as well as college. I invested in Kaplan's classroom based NCLEX RN review after graduation which guaranteed "you pass or receive a full refund." The instructor coached me and boosted my self-confidence which eliminated any apprehension I had regarding NCLEX. I was able to focus and look at test taking differently - I was no longer intimidated by NCLEX and when I sat for the exam, I passed with 76 questions. You'll get through this - just keep trying. Best of luck to you!

Hey! Just came across this and figured you might still need some encouragement. I graduated in May 2014 and took the nclex in July and then again in august. I failed the first time with 265 and then failed the second time with 75 questions. That was so heartbreaking to realize that I actually did so much worse the second time and felt extremely discouraged. I recently took the test again for the third time and the third time really was the charm! I am now a registered nurse after taking between 80-85 questions this last time. I did a mix of everything the first time (Anderson classroom review, kaplan classroom review, online tests, random nclex books last graduates gave me) and then the second time only focused on doing questions. I feel like I was too overwhelmed the first time and then the second time too nonchalant about it. This last time I took a 5 week online review course from NCSBN and then used the Saunders fifth edition book and completed all of the questions by doing at least 100 questions a day. I felt I was extremely prepared without going crazy with material! It was very hard but so worth it. You can do this! You need to believe in yourself before you sit for that test though or else you'll psyche yourself out! Stay relaxed and study hard! Good luck!

I think you may not fully understand what they are asking. I would get a good sanders book and take all the quizzes and see which area(s) your not doing so good in. Also rest the day before. Do not change your answers while testing. I have a friend who failed it twice and passed on the third try. She had a combination of test anxiety and she didn't fully understand some of the questions. She was messing up on prioritizing. Hope this helps. Congratulating you in advance. I know you will pass with flying colors next time:)
