Took NCLEX today.... second time!

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I took my NCLEX today for the second time. I felt calm going in an calm going out. The computer shut off at 75 questions. I did not know what to think; I prayed and asked God to let this be a victory. I had one picture, A lot of SATA, a lot of priority, familiar drugs, and a lot of infection control. I did not have any calculations this time around. It took me an hour and a half to take the test. I seen a lot of stuff that I studied; some of the questions were spot on from the Davis CD, Hurst and La Charity. I mean they were VERY similiar. I did a little over 3,000 questions. I used Davis, the Hurst review course book that my friend loaned me, the exam cram book, and notes from this site. I love the Endocrine system! I am not doing the Pearson Vue Trick, lol. I am going to wait. I will definitely come back and write more when I find out my official results. I pray, to God, that I have come to a successful end of trying to pass this test. I will pray for all who have to take the NCLEX soon. Thanks everyone!

I am an RN!!!!!!!!! I made it. Thank GOD

Congratulations! All your hard work paid off. Good for you for answering 3,000 questions! I feel like my own review is sorely lacking.

OMG!my exam is next week! guyz!where can i get SATA?or Exam cram book?help! im just self studying... advise anyone?study materials?heLLLLp!!!thanks!

Its important to review all body systems and understand the various diseases associated with thhem.

I am sorry guys for the late reply. I owe all of you a big thanks! This forum and the people have been of tremendous help. As some of you might know, I graduated May 2010 and did not pass the NCLEX. I fell into depression mode, and I could not seem to pick myself up to study again. With much prayer and determination, I started studying the last two weeks of June of this year. I studied for a good eight weeks for the second time around, but I took a week and a half off. I started to burn myself out from all the studying, so I decided to take a break.

My plan:

I started with 105 questions a day from the Davis CD. It took me three and a half hours to complete those questions, because I read and studied every single rationale. Towards the last three weeks, I cut my questions down to 75 a day. I finished all of my questions a week before my exam.

Thre Hurst book- I would read a chapter a day from this book. I really loved this book; it is straigt to the point. It also has test strategies in it. I read this book twice.

Prioritization, Delegation & Assignment by Linda Lacharity- This book is a must. I seen questions from this one, I swear! Lots of practice with the management area of nursing. I would complete the same body system as I did in Hurst and Exam cram.

Exam Cram book- This book is straight to the point. That is what I love about this little book. I basically skimmed the chapters, giving attention to the highlighted boxes. The cram sheet was very good.

Drugs: I used Exam Cram for most of my drugs. I basically grouped them by their class, such as lol for beta blockers and their importance, SE, etc.

I also prayed to St joseph of Cupertino and God!! It is strange that I had so many questions that I knew. I felt like the test was so much easier this time around. I recommend putting positive thoughts in your mind and walking into the test center with confidence! Tell yourself it is just another practice test. I wish the future test takers much success. Feel free to e-mail me with any questions. I hope that my post will be of help to someone out there. Thanks again you guys.

I forgot two things: The Kaplan 2010 strategy book and the 35 page document that is posted in this forum. I read the 35 page document two days before my exam.
