TOOK NCLEX-RN LAST JUNE 16,08 and STILL NO RESULT

Published

Im from the Philippines and took the NCLEX-RN last June 16, 2008. Its been more than a month now and still havent got my result yet (Increase anxiety related to delayed NCLEX-RN result as manifested by sleepless night)..

Anyhow, the computer shut off @ question 75! If i remember it correctly, I had more than 10 SATAS, 6 pharma, 3 drug computations, a lot of prioritizations. I find the exam quite difficult!

Should I call CA-BRN, because a friend of mine who took the exam the following day (june 17) already got his result!

a friend of mine based in CA suggested to try and apply for H1b visa. And if my case proves to be strong then we will pursue it. But at the rate things are going, I dont think I have a case at all.

Things looked bright couple of years back thats why i took up nursing to find a better life abroad. *sigh* How about in NZ and AU? Are they in need of nurses?

I was told that they will have to mail my nclex-rn result again.

Depends on whether the hospital uses H1b and that you meet their plus H1b requirements. Australia and NZ are also looking for nurses as are Canada and you will have to meet that country's requirements and as per Canada pass CRNE. Suggest a search on what is required as much already written on these countries

Ahh so it really depends on the hospital if they are willing or uses H1b for sponsorship?

I will have to check on Canada since it is nearer to the US, it's so hard to apply for nursing abroad unlike 3-4 yrs back *sigh* Im starting to feel really frustrated about this, but I cant let myself down that will bring me nowhere.. I will just have to pray hard, believe and hope that someday everything will turn out fine.

Requirements for H1b are strict and generally nurses do not meet that requirement. Nurses that do must be specialist in an area and for most have a bachelor's. There are a few threads on Canada

Remember though that in Canada you have to have passed your local board exam before you can come to Canada as a nurse.

I think in Canada, that is called the CRNE? I'll check on Canada's requirements soon!

Anyway, would you know if there are online programs for NURSE ANESTHETIST?? I just thought that there must be something very impressive in my CV to get a better chance of landing a job abroad, and im looking at becoming a Nurse anesthetist

Yes CRNE is the Canadian RN exam only held 3 times a year in Canada. Not sure if taking on-line course like the one you are looking for will help as most will require some sort of clinical experience.

I havent check the CRNE yet, but thats odd only 3x a year and I have to take the exam in Canada? hmmmssss

Anyway, regarding the clinical experience I just passed the exam @ QC General hospital here in my native country and will be starting on Monday. But Im not sure if it is valid exposure, It will be in for volunteer/trainee but will be rotated in all special areas and will be doing what a staff nurse does.. I think the hospital is in a tight budget thats why they only accept volunteers but you have to pass the exam.

I was referring to you passing the Philippine exam. Not the CRNE. When I applied to get my licence in Canada it took about 6 months to assess my application but they won't even accept your application (at least in British Columbia) if you don't already have a local licence where you went to school. I am a Canadian but went to school in the US. And then there are other requirements to meet that vary province to province. I know people at work that are interested in the Nurse Anesthetist program also but you need about 2 years experience in an ICU/CCU setting first which is usually not the best place for a new grad to start. And I don't think those programs are online since that is a hands on type of speciality. I have heard we have a good program here in Arizona but the program is not offered everywhere. I don't think that they use Nurse Anesthetists in Canada (at least not in British Columbia). I used to work with Anesthesiologists in Canada prior to becoming a Nurse and they wanted to ensure that everyone was aware that they were doctors and not nurses. But it is a great speciality if you are so inclined and very highly paid in the US.

Correct, you need a license for any of the provinces for your application. If qualified in the Philippines then need local boards, if in the US then state license, UK NMC license etc

I already passed the NLE exam and will start training on monday hopefully for a nurse position. Ive checked some website of universities and they do offer Nurse Anesthetist program but not online. And tried to check for training schools here in Philippines but I dont think they offer the program. I guess I just have to gain experience first and take it from there. I also took the NCLEX-RN but since there is retrogression in the US, Im looking now @ NZ or Canada's nursing exam. Are NZ's / Canada's nursing exam also difficult like the NCLEX-RN??

There are no on-line programs for the nurse anesthetist degree. It is also harder to get into one of those programs than it is for medical school in the US.

You also need to have minimum of one year of full-time critical care experience in the US to even be considered for that type of program.

It is not a point of it looking better on your resume. Suggest that you actually do some reading on the CRNA forum that we have here to get some idea even of what the program is or does.
