Toledo School PN or PSI LPN program?? Please help!

Published

I'm in the process of completing a triple combo program. I'll earn my certificates for nursing assistant, home health care aid, and patient care tech. Which is only 4 ½ months. I really like the program! After completing this program I would like to attend Toledo School of Practical Nursing or Professional Skills Institute in Ohio. . Has anyone here attended or attend one of these schools? If so what are your likes/dislikes. How soon after starting classes will the clinicals start? What is the cost of the programs? Any and all information is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I would ask this question under the Ohio forum. You might get more responses that way.

Good luck!

I would even try the Michigan Forum. Alot of people go there from the monroe area. I looked into going there but it was too long of a wait.

Hi there,

I have posted to Michigan and Ohio forums. I have not had any reponses yet. Thanks for the advice. Have a great week.

Hello all,

Someone sent me a pm and I accidentally deleted it before I had a chance to read it. Please send it again. I do not do well with computer/internet stuff. Sorry.

Hi,

I'm going to the Toledo School of LPN right now for their NET test prep corse. It seems like a really good program there. The cost depends on if you are a resident of ohio or out of state. 9,000. for in state, add 400. more for out of state. Thats for the whole program, it includes the books and test taking fees for the state boards.

I recently graduated from PSI and really liked the program. Cost was about 15,000 after all was said and done and clinicals are every three months at the end of each quarter. Everyone that has graduated in my class has passed their boards on the first try and I do feel like I know what Im doing (big bonus, lol). Program also earns you an IV therapy card in the state of Ohio but Im not sure how or if it transfers to Michigan. Attendance and grade requirements are strict but I can appreciate why. Long year but well worth it in my opinion, also good rep for students in the clinical setting. Good luck!

Hi, do you know if they have an evening lpn program, I keep calling them but I can never get an answer, always a recording.

I checked out both schools, along with other nursing schools in the area. I felt like PSI was very vague, and with tuition rates at $15,000 for the program, and the worst, none of the courses (anatomy, pharm, etc.) will transfer to a RN program. I didn't like the idea of paying that kind of tuition, earning the grades, and not having them transfer to another college. I think Toledo School of Pract. Nursing is the same way.

If you don't have any of the pre-reqs complete and don't have plans to get your RN degree, then I'd think those schools would work for your needs. I attend Owens, and the program is awesome. All my courses will transfer, and tuition is no more than $2,000/semester, including books and supplies. I like the campus-it is with the resources of a normal college campus-facilities, clubs, good library, etc. I'm so happy with my experience at Owens and I'd recommend you look into it.

Thanks amjowen for the info on owens community college. I do have information from them, they seem pretty good. Do you know is there is a big waiting list and how long did it take you to get into their program? Is there a net or hesi test?

They do have an eve. program and I believe it takes approx. 18 mos. to complete.
