Todays the day

This afternoon i shall be giving my 5th grade students "The Talk". Growth and Development. Super nervous of the questions they may ask, and if im not able to give them an answer. Im not an RN just the health-aide but i will give it my best.!

Good luck. My senior year of nursing school, we had a to a community project that we designed. My friend and I were asked to speak to a group of fifth grade girl scouts about periods and puberty. We were so nervous and the moms were all there too! But it ended up going really well and they had great questions. Most wanted to know what it "felt like" to have your period, and what to do if it happened at school. We brainstormed ideas to come up with an "emergency kit" to keep in their lockers- it was a lot of fun! Good luck.

You got this! I stick to fact based answers and tell kids the truth using those facts.

Some girls may want to know about pads vs tampons. I did tread carefully there to make sure I'm not recommending one over the other as some religions do not allow girls to use tampons.

Maybe too late, but have kids write questions on paper. You can screen them before answering.
