Hi I'm a UK RGN planning on moving to the States. Can anyone please help me with the application process for the NCLEX. It's not the actual exam that is freaking me out as much as the paperwork involved in applying to the State Board of Nursing to actaully take it. It seems soooooo long-winded and complicated with so many forms to fill in. Is it possible to do it alone or must you pay hundreds of pounds to an agency like O'Grady Peyton to do it for you? Thankyou

There are many UK nurses that have completed the paperwork without using an agency. I did and didn't find the paperwork long winded and complicated. Just follow instructions for the state you plan on working in and meet their requirements for foreign trained nurse. You also need to be aware of retrogression and the extreme long wait you have ahead of you especially once you find a employer.

Not as long winded as the retrogression that's been affecting our greencard applications since 2005!!
It's easy enough to do the paperwork off your own back but unless you have a spouse whose from the US or you already have US citizenship you're in for a massive wait!

I did it without an agency. It's long and expensive, but not difficult.
