As I had posted previously, I am applying for a new RN position and am so excited.
My question is: Am I obligated to inform my Nurse Manager that I am applying for this position? (It is outside the facility in which I am currently working.) Am I obligated to tell her if I am called for an interview?

No, you are only obligated to give the proper notice, if you actually get the job, IMHO. Hope you do get it, since it sounds like you really want it!

No you are not, and I don't think it would be a good idea to do so. But do give a full 2-4 weeks notice. It's too early in your career to start burning bridges

You are not obligated to share any information regarding your job search with your manager.
You will need to make a decision as to whether you will give the potential employer permission to contact your current employer for a reference. If you would rather not grant this permission, be prepared to offer other, current references.

Thanks for all of your helpful posts...You are telling me exactly what I had thought-I don't feel I need to tell my manager that I'm applying for a new job.
I do plan on giving a month's notice *when* I get this new position. (Trying to be positive!)

I say no. I went for an interview and did not want anyone to know, so I told no one that I was going.

I wouldn't tell her unless I got the job.
Also I have only ever given two weeks notice unless I was working in a management salaried position , like adon or staff development.

Do not mention, do not even breathe it, until you receive a solid job offer. I have seen people basically blackballed, or even fired. Look out for yourself, first.
