THANK YOU! Yesterday my nurse let me take full charge of my patient. She encouraged me every step of the way, and even thanked me when it was time for me to leave. Although it seems like a small gesture, at the end of the day it is that type of mentoring that makes a big impact on a student.
So, thank you to all nurses who take on full patient care and also remember that a little encouragment goes a long way. :)

Hyper...It DOES help to be encouraged!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...As a student myself (I graduate on 17 Dec, '04 ) I enjoy being told "good job" instead of "hey, you forgot to do..." Thank YOU for reminding ME to thank THEM:p

Glad to hear it, hyperstudent. :)
I remember a nurse who was so fantastic when I was a student. It was a very busy urology floor, but she gave me the freedom to care for my patient along with lots of encouragement and support, and went out of her way to make sure I was around for learning experiences as well.
What makes it so sad is that she still stands out in my mind probably because she was the only one like that. Maybe your post will help remind all to take a little extra time to help students become the best they can be.

Way to go, and thank you for 'paying it forward" by recognizing this. I am sure you will make a great nurse.
