Please share with me your experiences during your assessment, and how long did you wait for the result? And what are the actual recomendations after you received your result. Does anyone actually granted a provisional or temporary license after SEC or is everyone who took the assessment have to undergo continuing education or educational upgrading? if so, how many months?

I am scheduled to have an assessment on April and I'm a bit anxious what might be the outcome....I might not afford it if ever they recommend me to take further study for moths or years..

Please enlighten me...is it worth to pursue it?

Hello Lizakurt

My name's Tina, I will be having an SEC early next year in BC and I was wondering if you didn't mind if I could ask how it went and what you had to go through? My assessment will be focused on Med-Surg as well as Pediatrics. Im UK based, so although I've had Med Surg experience and theory I've had nothing in Pediatrics. Could you advise me on what books would be useful in helping me prepare?

Thankyou!

Tina.

Hi.I wondering if you were able to find any resources for the SEC?I live in Vancouver and Im still completing my requirements for the NNAS.Thinking about the SEC makes me nervous always.I hope you could me advise on what books to read.

Hi.My name is Lyn.I am new in this forum.I am glad to see that you are from PI.I am also from PI currently living in Vancouver.I am just wondering what are the books the kwantlen university lended you?I graduated mmy nursing un 2009,so its been awhile:)I would really appreciate any help from you.TIA.

hi...Lynsimi... are you done with the NNAS assessment??? I actually did the LPN and RN assessment here in Alberta and now I just got a reply from CARNA.. giving me an option to do bridging or SEC assessment... I will choose SEC assessment and I am trying my best to start studying and yet I don't know what to focus on coz there are just lots of things to study... =(

Hi Camx, I am sailing in the same boat I guess. Carna is now going to assess my file and either ask me to do SEC or Bridging. But I always thought doing a bridging program would be better than giving the tedious SEC which I am completely new to. Can you tell me is it wiser to take SEC over bridging program ? If so why ?

Thank you.

Hi Swap! I actually am booked for SEC assessment on October 5 and 6. I think that is so much better than having to do the whole bridging program. You can save time money and effort. I do have an idea though of the possible things that will come out for SeC. Just doing research and all those sort of things. Are you in alberta???

Hi Camx, Thank you for replying. Oh! that makes sense. Good luck to you :) Yes I am in Alberta. How about you? Do you know of anyone coaching for the same around here ? I am still waiting to know my evaluation though.

Really interested to hear of your experience of NNAS and the SEC assessments? Costs etc?

I am currently a UK resident, wanting to make the move to Canada. I will be a qualified RN in March.

I am desperate to apply but have to get 1 years experience and save up enough pennies

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Canada requires generalist training so hopefully your transcripts show Obstetrics, Mental Health, Paeds and Adult both clinical and theory hours. Suggest starting the process as soon as you qualify as the NNAS and provincial process may take anywhere from 1 to 3 years

Hi, are you done with the processing of your nursing application here in BC?
