To all the LPN graduates, how are you getting ready for your boards?

Published

Hey guys. It's already been over 2 weeks since I graduated from the school. All I've got to worry about now is that stinkin Nclex for PN. I just wanted to see how everyone else is getting ready for theirs and also wanted to get some advice from those that have successfully passed their boards. I would love hear about some of the helpful materials that you've been using and study methods that you use to study including how many hours and how many questions a day and so on. Thanks everyone.

Currently I've been using...

Saunders comprehensive review and Q & A review

also looking to pay for that Kaplan nclex review online since I heard a lot of people talking about it

I've also got Hurstreview and lipincott's review book but I have not been using those two because nobody had talked about them yet.

Tony! I'm waiting on my ATT also. I have a question for you though. I did my finger printing and background check yesterday and they said the state of michigan will automatically check the result through IBT so that's done. I also sent the application for licensure form with $48 money order to State of Michigan. Do you think that I am all set? Do I just wait until the ATT arrives at my home? or am I missing something?

I'm in TN, but the process should be similar. Did you send in the boards fee, application forms signed by all necessary parties, photo, transcripts and diploma? Our dept director gathered up all forms, fees, etc and mailed them in one packet and double checked all paperwork to make sure no snafu's are done. Your background stuff is done, so that should be everything I reckon, I'm sure if not they'll let you know.

Good luck with everything.

Thanks so much !!!! I'm not sure how i did it either, I just know that God works miracles for me!!! All my instructors were so amazed that I finished nursing school then got married, went on honeymoon, came back took my boards and passed on first try. I'm a living witness that it can be done. I was never the type to study hours and hours a day anyway. I studied here and there and gave it to God and I passed.

I think you have a lot of intuition and you unconsciously tap into that and use it to work for you. Still. . .you shouldn't discount the importance of opening a book or going on the Internet every once in awhile to enhance your knowledge.

am in the same boat as you're. Iam using ATI as was the choice for our school. But some one has told me about saunders as the best book and do the cd not more than an hour a day. But am not sure if that is helping.

I graduated june 25th, took my Nclex-PN August 13th and found out I passed. I used the Davis's Nclex-PN review book, studied every day for a few hours. Study on areas you feel weak on. Take lots of pracitce tests. Know your lab values, isolation precautions, study classifications of medications, prioritization. You will never really feel ready for the test, stay confident, pray a lot. Take your time on the test, dont rush. Confidence, confidence, confidence. Good luck to you! you can do it!!:wink2::up:

wait, student 19, you are only 20? and married? and a godly woman? how perfect....we are the same age but i feel like you have so much potential coming out of you just because you have the power to depend your whole life on God's shoulders. i don't have that and I've been trying for years now. going to church and going to bible studies have become very legalistic in my life and just some meaningless rituals. Well, hopefully I learned something from you through our conversation in this thread, thanks.

namutebi, so when is the date for the actual nclex? do you have it yet?

kitte, thank you very much for your word of encouragement. i'm definitely taking your awesome advice and making them as my daily reminders for now on.

no problem, its very important to have a good support system while you are going through this. it is a very big and important step in your life that you shouldnt have to do alone. i went to school in a different town then where i live so i dont get to talk to my old classmates much, having someone on here to talk to that has taken the test before is very helpful. Im getting out into the working community finally and its so exciting to be able to work as an LPN. Im finally starting an important chapter in my life. I know you can do it, remain confident in yourself and in God, pray a lot and he will help you through this. :wink2: Remember to give yourself a little break every now and then. Good luck to you and happy studying! :D
