PLEASE, I need some support!!
Im really sorry to hear about your brother. I hope everything works out. :hgu: as for your cna test, keep a positive mind, everyone makes mistakes, it doesnt mean you cant do it and it doesnt mean you wont do it. You can do this! Say it to yourself. until you find out you passed practice your bp's on people you feel comfortable around. the bp isnt something your just testing on its something you will do everyday at your job you need to know how to do it proficiently (sp?) it takes practice just like everything else. the important thing is you got the bp right. take the job and if need be you can redo your skills test. I was a cna for 4 yrs and now im a new lpn, when you get stressed and nervous just stop for a second take a deep breath and stay confident in yourself, if your not confident in yourself other people will see it and they will question your abilities. you need to develop a healthy stress relieving technique, working in LTC can be very stressful especially when there are deaths. i work in a LTC and I also work for Hospice, when i get off work I get in my car and I blast music on the way home it takes my mind off of things a little bit. This works for me but it might not for you, especially with everything going on in your life you need something or someone to help you, if you dont find something that works for you you will get burned out very quickly. Dont be so hard on yourself, remember everyone makes mistakes. And like you said you dont need to have passed this to get the job. just redo it and move on. im sure you did great! everyone needs support...if you need anything else im only a message away...good luck to you! BE POSITIVE AND CONFIDENT!

Cliques in Nursing School
I agree with Daytonite, i graduated nursing school in june and we had all sorts of cliques. Its quite rediculous but its there, the teachers picked favorites just like in high school. You are there to learn and I know its hard to be away from family and friends but it will be over soon. I am the same way at first it really bothered me that no one talked to me, but after a while I was relieved, rumors start fast especially in a class full of girls that have cliques, keeping to myself and giving them no information about myself kept me out of these rumors. You dont have to come off needy for these people to do this to you its in a lot of these girls' nature. Be confident and concentrate on your schooling, thats ultimately why you are there. Good luck to you!

Need help with a project idea
Isolation precautions could be a good one. Its very important and when it comes to you taking the NCLEX you and everyone you taught this to will be very appreciative because it is an important subject that is usually on the NCLEX. If you dont like that then think of something that you enjoy learning about, something you know a lot about. Good luck

First TIme Care Plan Help Needed - DM
Think about prevention, prevention of further complications from her diabetes and from her insulin, such as DKA, hypoglycemia etc. Look at the age of this patient, think about psychological and emotional feelings this patient may have. What things could you do to help keep the patient comfortable? If this is a new diagnosis then teaching will be huge, and even if it isnt new, teaching is always important. Not sure if you have a Care plan book, if not get one because it will help you throughout nursing school, and if you do have one use it because it is extremely helpful. I probably wouldnt have gotten through school without it. Good luck, I hope this helps!:wink2:

Should I get a job as a CNA while in school?
I agree, I think its a very good idea. I personally think it should be a requirement to get into the nursing program. I was a CNA for about 4 years before I became an LPN and I feel it helped me tremendously. In my program the first semester was mostly learning CNA stuff, and I feel if everyone was already CNA's we could skip that and start immediately with LPN stuff. Dont over do it though , working on the floor, doing clinicals and having class will get very tiring and overwhelming. Good luck to you!

lpn nclex study guide
I used Davis's Nclex-PN review guide, it comes with a cd that you can make your own tests based on your weakest areas. I think it helped a lot, I passed my first time. I think it all depends on how you learn and how you study. Do a little research, before I bought if off line I went into a book store and looked at a bunch that they had there and picked the best one for me. ( i bought it off line because its a lot cheaper!) After I got it I studied a few hours everyday, and took tests a lot. Good luck to you and happy studying!

Im so FRUSTRATED.....
What studying strategies have you been using? Maybe you need to change the book or software that you are using. I used Davis's Nclex-PN book and I passed the first time. Different things work for different people. Dont give up. Remain confident in yourself. I didnt pray a whole lot before, but i tell you what I prayed a lot before i took the test. Dont think of it as a life killer think of it as a beginning. you can do it, 3rd time is the charm!

To all the LPN graduates, how are you getting ready for your boards?
no problem, its very important to have a good support system while you are going through this. it is a very big and important step in your life that you shouldnt have to do alone. i went to school in a different town then where i live so i dont get to talk to my old classmates much, having someone on here to talk to that has taken the test before is very helpful. Im getting out into the working community finally and its so exciting to be able to work as an LPN. Im finally starting an important chapter in my life. I know you can do it, remain confident in yourself and in God, pray a lot and he will help you through this. :wink2: Remember to give yourself a little break every now and then. Good luck to you and happy studying!

To all the LPN graduates, how are you getting ready for your boards?
I graduated june 25th, took my Nclex-PN August 13th and found out I passed. I used the Davis's Nclex-PN review book, studied every day for a few hours. Study on areas you feel weak on. Take lots of pracitce tests. Know your lab values, isolation precautions, study classifications of medications, prioritization. You will never really feel ready for the test, stay confident, pray a lot. Take your time on the test, dont rush. Confidence, confidence, confidence. Good luck to you! you can do it!!:wink2:

Time spent studying for NCLEX r/t pass or fail?
I graduated June 25th, took my Nclex-PN August 13th, studied every day for a few hours and found out August 15th that I passed. You will never trully feel ready to take the test. I agree with everyone else i would schedule your test now, give yourself plenty of time to study, and then that way you can schedule your study times. Study hard on things you feel weak on, take a lot of practice tests. I got 85 questions on my test and it really doesnt tell you at all if you passed or not. Study lab values, isolation precautions, prioritization, theres no way to know all of the medications so study clues to what classification the medications are like -olol, etc. Its normal to walk out of the test and feel you didnt pass. Remain confident, confidence is huge! Pray a lot, tell yourself you can do it, take your time on the test, dont rush. If you get stuck on a question close your eyes, breath, and stay confident. I would highly recommend the pearson vue trick it worked for me. Good luck to you!

Help, help, help
My classes used powerpoints during class, and thats what we went over. A lot of people thought that if they sutdy off of those they would be ok. Read your book, read the little boxes in the chapters, read it over and over again. Med surg wasnt my best subject, if you dont understand a chapter get a tutor. If you have a few months to study do it, get ahead and make sure you understand everything.

I'm about to lose my MIND!!
I just took my Nclex-PN last thursday and I felt the same way, I ended with 85 questions also and i thought theres no way that i passed and I did pass. Although the test is over you still need to remain confident. I would suggest using the Pearson Vue trick because it worked for me, remember though dont get your hopes up but dont be so hard on yourself. Wait until your status says delivery successful and then try it. You probably did fine. Now that its done relax :tbsk: Good luck to you, and im sure you did great!:hgu:
