Hello!
My hubby & I have decided California is probably the worst place to raise a child. And with our 1st little one on the way, we are beginning to look at other areas to move to.
I currently work in ICU (mostly cardiac) and am completing my BSN to further my marketability. My husband is completing his education to be a Respiratory Therapist (Registered).
We were thinking somewhere between Colorado Springs & Denver would be a nice place to live. The reason I'm thinking in between is it seems there's a lot more hospitals in Denver. Hubby used to be a truck driver and drove through Colorado all the time and would never shut up about how beautiful it was.
How do you all think Colorado is? Are nurses treated well there? How are the public school systems? I'm aware the economy is horrible right now, but I wouldn't be able to move anyway until hubby is done with school, which is about 3 years down the road.
Thanks!
PM me when you get here, I will personally welcome you to town!!!!![]()

I was up WAY TO LATE when I typed that, it hardly makes sense. I am glad you got the idea though LOL
Dear Klone,When you come this way, can you please make sure you bring Az warmth with you? Mother Nature here seems to be off her Bi Polar medication and keeps going from hot to snow, hot to snow :|
I know, right? Someone at work recently said "You heard that Denver just got dumped with a bunch of snow, didn't you?" At times I think to myself "What am I thinking?"
klone-
I did my L&D clinical at UCH and loved it! I hope you do, too. Are you going to be in the Birth Center (low risk c midwifery and family practice) or the high risk floor? Either way, it should be a great experience. I applied for the new grad residency in the mom/baby unit (they require 2 years of PP before you can start to cross train on L&D). We are still waiting on interviews, but I have my fingers crossed. With any luck, I will see you there in a few months. Hope you had a safe trip and are settling into CO.
CO is a good place to work as a nurse but it is an "at will" state and I've seen RNs let go pretty easily. In 3 years things things should be settled down with the economy. Anywhere along the Front Range is great living. Drive to the mountains if you like but easy winters, just about 6 weeks of hot weather in the summer.
