I left my last job in order to accommodate finishing NP school, the job was the reciprocal of your situation. I got paid less but I really loved where I was at. My current job is rough and stressful but again it accommodates finishing NP school. I only have one more year until I'm done. If I could do it over again, I would stay at my previous job just because it was far less stress and I would try and make it work with NP school. My point is, two years is a long time to hate what you do, it will sour you on your patients, coworkers, future mentality of healthcare, your family, etc.
Do the job that makes you happy, money isn't everything for sure.
I currently work in an acute rehab setting but have not been happy with my job (not sure if its burn out or the staffing grid that our facility staffs by). Anywho - I recently was offered a gig at another hospital working med-surg, the pay is a bit less, hours are the same 3(12). Do I leave my current job, lose my PTO and sick pay that I have vested and take less money for a job in med surg or do I stick it out where I am currently at? In less than 2 years I hope to be finished with NP and moving on in my career - so Im leaning towards staying put for simplicity sake...Am I right in this choice?
So you already have your MSN right? (username) and are pursuing your NP? well you won't know if the new offer is better setting but you say you are not happy? How much less money per year? Only you can decide the financial aspect.
