Thank you for the empathy and for sharing that news with me, @Hoosier_RN. Dr. Johnny Fever will live on in our hearts, and of course, in reruns.
It's so neat you remember for years here on allnurses that I used Johnny Fever as my avatar. I did so after two young hotshot nurses referred to themselves Rock Stars. I asked one of them, "Well, if you're Rock Stars, what does that make me?"
The reply: "Some burned out 70's DJ like Dr. Johnny Fever".
Ever thus.
Thanks again, Hoosier!

My friend, it's a sad day...
When I just read this, I sighed "ohhhh", and my husband asked me "who died?" It was that kind of sentiment.
Off the subject, I grew up in Chicago and I remember standing in a long line with my friends to get a DJs autograph. We listened avidly to his show. Years later I was moving into an apartment in Milwaukee and saw his name on the buzzer list.,,, I saw an aged version of my listening idol in the laundry room but couldn't get any courage to say " I listened to you when I was 10 years old. Sigh, how the mighty have fallen.
I neglected to thank you for putting my name in lights @Hoosier_RN. As my older brother Eddy said while penning his obit shortly before his death, "Everybody likes to see their name in the papers".
Speaking of having your name in lights and death, today I turn 65 years old.
No, really, thank you.
Eddy died shortly before his 65th birthday, and had I not been "fired & retired" from Wrongway, I would be retired now. Belinda and I planned my retirement for December 2021. So, instead of being retired for a little less than two months, I've been retired for a little less than two years.
It's been heaven, but back to having your name in lights: On the Old Folks Forums, that I now frequent ad much as I do this website, one of the members put my name in lights wishing me a happy birthday.
I like attention as much as the next guy, but what I really like is an excuse to reply with some kind of art:
Happy Groundhog's Day!

Happy birthday, my dear friend. It's my cousin's birthday as well. She says that she hates sharing the day with a doggone groundhog

Thank you, Hoosier. Having my birthday on Groundhog's Day has been something of a running joke all my life. The first one was from my Mom about the day I was born, who said, and I quote:
"The groundhog didn't stick his head out of the hole, but Dave did".
This is also Tommy Smothers' birthday, and he is exactly 20 years my senior.
He isn't dead too, is he?
Speaking of being dead, Jason Hiney RN, aka Jacob Rockstar-RN, from Wrongway and I texted recently. I thought our conversation was completed and rarely use my cell, so I didn't look at it for some time. Jason had added a short text that a secretary with who we had worked had died.
When I finally did pick up my cell for a long bicycle ride, I noticed the last text informing me of the secretary's death. Jason had also sent me another short text a few days later saying that Johnny Fever had died.
I believe Jason would be good at a sideline job of writing "TV Guide Synopsis Obits".
I love that you called me your dear friend. It made my heart go pitter patter.

❤❤❤
Be safe if you and Belinda need to go out. I don't know if it's bad where you are, but it's sleeting here. My beloved is stuck up north, which I hate, but I'd rather he be safe than driving
Hey @Hoosier_RN!
Belinda and I will be in your home state this Thursday. We are driving to U of I to bring her granddaughter home for Spring break.

If I wasn't working a 13, I'd give a yell for lunch. I'll catch you all one of these days. But have fun driving through my beautiful home state!
