so tired all the time

Published

I have been extremely tired for the past couple of weeks. When I study I just fall asleep and cant keep myself awake and coffee doesnt seem to work for me anymore. I have been falling behind on my school work because no matter how hard I try I cant concentrate or stay up. I bought caffeine pills, but they make me nauseous and I stopped taking them. I go to sleep early, but I still feel really tired when I wake up in the morning. Yesterday I slept for 13 hrs. and I was still tired. I am so nervous because this is usually not me and I dont want my school work to suffer. What are some of the things that you guys do in order to stay awake to study?

I have been struggling with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for five years now... it's awful and nothing seems to help.

Have you had your blood drawn lately?

What is your activity levels like?

Diet?

Exercise?

I personally am extremely active and that helps keep me awake. I bike to class everyday that i can and exercise at the gym to just stay in shape. I eat healthy and those two things alone give me all the energy I normally need. I dont drink caffeine either, hate the stuff

Your diet is very important. I recommend watching the junk food and sticking to fruits, veggies and lean protiens. Also, get a workup at the drs office. I had a similar experience, sleeping constantly and could not concentrate. Turns out, I had type 1 diabetes. Even today...i find that if i am careless about my food choices I suffer with fatigue and loss of concentration.

If it's been a while since you've had a check up with routine lab work, it may be time to do that now. A few days of extreme fatigue might just be your body fighting off a virus or something, but this has been going on too long to ignore it.

Take care of yourself!

I would find a good DR
