timeline for Indiana NCLEX-RN to licensure?

Hello,

I am over in Illinios, the land where it takes approximately six weeks to receive your license post successful NCLEX-RN.

Based on my tentative Army training date of early August and the fact that I cannot ship without my license in my hand I called around to other BONs to see who may be quicker.

I spoke with a rep at the Indiana BON and she told me that I could register online now and as soon as they receive my Certificate To Test from my university post graduation, (that would be June 15th graduation date) that I could test.

Now, I think the soonest I could test after graduation is four weeks, (due to Continental testing telling me it takes three to four weeks to register someone to test after graduation).

Okay, here is my question. The woman at the Indiana BON told me twice that it only takes three days to get your license post test from Indiana. So, I told my Army medical recruiter that I was good to go for August. However, at the Indiana BON websit is says three WEEKS! Ack, this means that while still possible it would be very tight.

If my graduation date is June 15th and if I test by July 15 then the three weeks to wait until my license, (if successful of course) would be August 6th right?

Wow, my ship date is August 7th.

Any words from Indiana Nurses on the Licensure timeline from Indiana BON? Should I trust this?

It is much better than the six weeks for Illinois. ALSO, after trying for three days of phoning to reache the Illinois prof regulation for Nurses and only receiving busy signals it was so nice to reach IN BON on the first call!

Thanks,

Gen

I am an RN in Indiana. I took the NCLEX on a Tues. about 2pm-ish. I knew the next morning that I passed by looking on the website www.in.gov/pla. Hope this helps!

Hello Melissa,

Thanks for being on so quick!

Thing is though I cannot ship without my license on my person, not just results.

I am really hoping to hear about testing to "license in your hand" time. :)

Thank you!

p.s. maybe I should make the title "When does the license arrive?" :)

you will get your physical license in the mail as quick as 3 days. several of my friends took their test and had theirs within a week:)

I tested on a Tuesday and had my Lic Weds morning at 0800. A friend of mine left Pearson Vue at 1000 and had a lic by 1400 same day!!!

Yet another friend did NOT have a lic number for 7 days. She called the state and was told her case worker was sick that day and had already called in the next day, so I think the 7 day wait is an exception.

Far as I know Indiana is one of the fastest to post.

I had my lic in hand the week after I passed. BUT....I think I read somewhere, that I would never be getting another one, and now they are no longer even sending them because they are online and can be accessed.

As mine does not have an exp date. Just states it exp every odd year. or even?? I dont know, regardless, the paper lic is no more...
