Tidewater Community College 2013-2014 Nursing

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey everyone, I would like to start a new thread for all the nursing students who got accepted into the Tidewater Community College Beazley School of Nursing 2013-2014. I will be starting in the August cohort and would like to meet some of my future class mates. If you are in another cohort, please add to the thread and we can all share information. Best of luck to everyone who will be nursing students this fall and spring!

Hi! I'm not a student anymore, but I graduated from the nursing program at TCC three weeks ago. If I can be of any help, or if you have any questions, feel free to ask. I know I had TONS before I started!!:) As for clinicals, they change with every class. You'll have both day and evening clinicals, 6 or 12 hours, and some classes do Saturday clinicals. Hope that helps!

:)

yes that helps thanks and congrats graduating. I have tons of questions ...I may have to in box you if that's ok :-)

absolutely :). Happy to help!

Looks like I don't have enough activity on here to have an inbox yet (hmph) but feel free to put your questions here! :)

Hi Nursenthemakin...can you let me know if you got my message? I sent one but it said it was "undeliverable" because apparently I can't send a message yet. Gah. If you didn't get it, I'll definitely retype it!

Thanks!

Hi 2Sugars,

I have a question for you if you don't mind. For the first nursing class (108), we have to take the lab and the lecture portions separately. Lecture is on Mon/ Wed and Lab is on Tues./ Thurs. My question is this..... Are the lab days (Tues/ Thurs) actual clinical days at a facility or are they in a classroom setting at TCC? Do you know if the times vary or if they are always 8-2pm. Thanks for any feedback you can provide.

Yes I got your msg. I have responded . Thanks

Hey y'all congrats on your acceptance! :) since you all had to take the hesi, what books would u recommend to study? your feedback would be greatly appreciated!

I used the Kaplan Nursing study guide but really I only went over some of the math. I didn't really get a chance to study for my HESI-A2 because I was in school full time and working full time at the time I took the HESI. It really wasn't that bad. If you know your Chemistry, Biology and Anatomy and Physiology from your previous classes, then you should be fine. Also, the English section takes a lot of time. There is a lot of vocabulary and grammar. Good luck!!!!

Eyvis91 I used the Hesi A2 evolve test review book , ordered it on line. Its a good review guide

Regina,

Hi! Ok, in 108 class is held from 8-2 Monday through Thursday. The "lab" section is the part of the class where you learn nursing fundamentals...dressing changes, wound irrigation, ng tube insertion, and such. It's held in the labs right next door to the classroom (they connect with sliding glass doors). You'll get 1/2 and hour for lunch each day. You can expect some instruction everyday including the "lab" days. The last three weeks of class, you'll start your clinicals at a facility in Hampton Roads and usually in 108 they're six hour clinicals on Tuesday and/or Thursday. Hope that helps!

nursenthemakin, I just sent you a pm. Can you let me know if you got it? If not, I'll just put it here...no worries. ;)

I am currently in the nursing program, and also a representative on the Student Nurse Association at Tidewater Community College. Are you guys members of the Student Nurse Association?
