Tidewater Community College-hopefuls application July 2014

Published

This is a new tread for anyone applying July 15, 2014 for TCC Nursing program.

The only issue with using your second as a childhood one is if your titers come back negative. For example the series counts for two shots, if you come back negative for the antibody, you need the entire series again.

so if you go and only get one done now, your titer may still come back as nonimmune and have to get the shot done the second time, and the titer done again. I just think it's easier to go with getting the entire series again and get the titer, that way you aren't wasting time, money, and pain of needle sticks.

and if I recall in the meeting, you said your titer already came back as negative, meaning you're nonimmune and should get the entire series redone for your health benefit. Plus they won't allow you to enter until you test positive on the titers.

I feel so confused now, the only one that came back negative was the measles. The rest tested out positive so I then went and got the MMR vaccine. The paper does say you can use the second additional vaccine from ANYTIME which is why I was planning on using my childhood record. Dr. Eaton said it was okay unless she didn't understand what I was saying.

Yes eyvis91that's what Dr. Eaton said so you are good with the vaccine you just got and your childhood one. especially since you were only not immune to one component it wouldn't make sense to do it twice.

Ok good! Lol. By the way, do any of y'all plan on working full or part time?

You are correct eyvis91. That is exactly what the paper states to do. Your titer was negative so you got the MMR vaccine. So your MMR #1 date would be from the childhood vaccine and #2 from the one you just got. The only thing left to do would be go back and get the titer to show the 2nd vaccine took at some point if needed before clinicals. This is my take on the issue you are having. According to the Guidelines For Student Health Requirements you followed the appropriate steps and should be good to go.

No ma'am. Full time school for me. My husband is going back to sea duty next fall so school and two kids are enough for my plate. I'm grateful I don't have to work just yet.

Nope no working for me, but I know a lot of that people do.

I plan on working part time when I make it in ;) lol hopefully into cohort 4 which I prefer, but I'll take anything.

I was able to enroll in classes today as my major was changed in the SIS already. Just wanted to share the info :)

Awesome, I am checking right now!!!

I did finally did it!!! woop woop it is so real. It seems we are going to college m-th from 8:30 to 2:30. I am gonna wait getting into the RN to BSN program; My friends in the program say that is really challenging.I am a little uneasy not passing because I didn't give everything I could. I want to have strong bases.

I'm only doing the RN as well for now. I filled out the enrollment sheet and walked it into admissions yesterday then submitted to EEN for VA. I had them verify that I filled it out right so hopefully I did. At first I was confused about which 130 to sign up for then realized it had to be the 2nd 8 weeks starting in March. Seemed like a lot of choices for classes which I thought would be pretty cut and dry with only day or evening students.
