Hi Tweety

Dianah have fun at the jam

Ado I think we're doing another combined  voice choir/bell choir piece for Easter

NJ22 hope your dog feels better

Hi Amo

Another busy day at work, had to cut lunch a bit short, was still rushed.  But I feel I'm doing a better job now.  Hoping today will be less crazy

Did the grocery shopping  after work despite the rain.  Had choir practice, only 2 of us there, might be only 2 of us this Sunday too.

Today should be a quiet night, nothing in particular planned

Rainy day in the 50s today, might get a bit of snow

Good morning!

Joe, hope today is manageable.  It sounds like it is, but just busy.

Ado, feeding baby squirrels must be so satisfying.

J22, I hope your dog is okay.  Why is biking okay and running not?  Just curious.

Amo, I'm a little confused as to what is your plan B for power outages?

Dianah, sounds like a fun day. How nice is it to be able to just get up and go when you want.

I got up way too early today and will be up late so I hope to take a nap soon.  I need to pack for my trip tomorrow and I'm bringing the dogs to my brother in law's for him to dog sit.  Going to see Janis Ian in concert tonight.  She won a grammy for her hit "At 17" in the 70's and has made good music since then.  She's retiring after this tour so I'd best see her.

Have a great day!

Hi guys. Tweety, that's a good question. I was feeling discomfort just from walking, as I swung my legs forward, and with running, but not cycling. From what I've read, piriformis syndrome (which I think I have) may or may not be irritated with cycling. For me, it feels better, but I will ask at the next visit. The  trainer did say that when running a person tends to keep muscles tight, so maybe cycling lets them remain relaxed? I do know, I keep tensing my shoulders, so I need to concentrate on bringing them down.

Hello all!

Had a good but tiring day yesterday (having fun takes a lot outta ya!).  We enjoyed the jam!  They did a lot of songs we didn't know, which happens at an unfamiliar jam.  But it's all part of the fun, to follow along.  Our goal is to make the other players sound good!  They did do a couple change-ups: Columbus Stockade in a minor key, and You Are My Sunshine in a minor key!  It was more fitting for Columbus Stockade, but it WAS interesting to hear the second song as well.  It was mainly done as a novelty.  We had 5 guitars, 3 mandolins, and a banjo.  It was all men except for me and C, the host (she plays mando).  They all had good singing voices and it was fun to add harmony, and to chat between songs.  We stayed/played probably 3 hr. The jam is an hour from home.  We'll probably go once a month or so.

When we got home, it was time for dh's Jamkazam jam, so we did THAT for an hour!  So, yeah, I was tired.

But that didn't stop me from waking up last night, after two hours' sleep, and being unable to get back to sleep for another three hours!!  SMH  I guess I just roll with it.

Dh got himself a new phone and has been migrating all his apps and widgets to it, which involves a little bit of cursing and frustration.  Always.  Anything dealing with technology (even though he retired as a systems analyst, he has no special insight to how a lot of systems work, but he is DOGGED and DETERMINED, and that makes up for it!).

Today's plan: trip to the grocery store, get the car washed, provide transportation for ds to an appointment.

Have a good one!

I'm baaaack.

Dog does seem to be feeling better this morning. He was eager to go for our morning walk, and he ate a little rice for breakfast. Youngest ds thinks he see's a bit of swelling on doggo's hindquarters, and he definitely isn't holding his tail normally. I got a text from eldest ds: he broke his collarbone while mountain-biking. Ouch, but not as bad as the time he broke 3 ribs and got a pneumo. Kids these days (he's 42, LOL). He is finding out that boo-boos hurt a lot more as we get older.

Q day at work. The OCD co-worker is out of the office, and not much else is going on. I should work on a presentation for the nursing program, but blah.

Dianah, that sounds like a lovely day, jamming with others. Grocery shopping, not so much. I went on Tuesday, and noted it was senior day. Oh wait, technically, that's me!

Sleep was tough last night for me too. Hot, cold, hot, cold. Covers off, covers on. Pillow too flat, 2 pillows too much, dog snore, dh snore, bathroom calls.

Have a nice rest of your day, all.

Tweety - Wow! Haven't thought of Janis Ian in a loooong time. Used to be a fan of hers way back teen years. /////  I really don't have a good Plan B.

Interesting weather today... I woke up to rain hammering on the roof. Talk about your frog-drowning downpours! We got about 2 inches in 3 hours. By mid afternoon it all went away, except for the winds which were tolerable because it was 70 degrees. Now it is sunny. (Nannie says: BOY! That sun is BRIGHT! ~~Yes, Nannie, that's what sunshine does: ??The sun shines bright on our wacky Nannie's home?(with apologies to the State of Kentucky)

Oh, two houses down, across the street, there was a tremendously huge pond---lake?--in their driveway and all across both lanes of the road. It was hairy, watching cars zipping along and then noticing the water and hitting the brakes! Someone called Town Road Maintenance and was told their drain-sucking machine was broken, and they probably wouldn't be able to take care of the flooded drain for at least 2 months. So, he went over and found the drain, took a long handle to a shovel and kept jamming it down into the drain to break up the stoppage of leaves and twigs until, when the air finally burst through, the water spewed up two feet of water and then started draining with a loud gurgling sound. I'm glad they got it drained because I was afraid if two cars coming from opposite directions got to the water at the same time, there would be a bad accident. Relieved that the worst of the worst of the stormy weather did NOT deliver any thunder-lightning-tornadoes to this area.

We are supposed to be rain-free for the next 3-4 days, and are HOPING the neighbor at least takes away the two tall piles of limbs and branches. {Hopehopehope}. Still have 6-7 two-foot-tall segments.... thick, heavy slabs of the trunk, and the remainder of the trunk which is prolly about 14 feet long. So, mebbe wun ov theese daze, maybe we'll be lumber-free, eh? HA!

Just another sloth-filled day. Tomorrow after 2 PM I hope to take Nannie out, and I'm going to convince hubby to come along, too, to the little drugstore in the little town next door, for our 3rd J&J vaccinations. That new Omicron variant B-52...oh wait, that's not it!...anyway, it is spreading around close to everywhere now, and once again 'they' are saying it is highly contagious. I guess eventually we will get to the 'Omega-xyz-26' variant? It'll be like with the hurricane names, they will have to come up with some new names pretty soon: maybe like Daffy Duck, Foghorn Leghorn, Yosemite Sam?

We are sorry I got Nannie that little clock for her chair-side table because 1.)she can't hardly tell the time even with the clock right up to 9" from her nose, and 2.) she can't remember what she just saw or said a minute and a half ago, and 3.) she thinks that ALL the clocks, watches and other time-telling technologies must be exactly the same. (She also gets all the various weather reports mixed up. After we've heard the local forecast, the the network gives their nation-wide forecasts, all we hear is: IS IT RAINING OUTSIDE? ARE WE GOING TO GET RAIN?...ad infinitum...Don't know why it concerns her so much, as she RARELY goes outside, and we aren't located in a flood plain, but it is her main FAQ.

Okie-dokie. Stay well!

Amo, would a generator suffice for plan B? They're not exactly cheap, I realize. We bought one several years ago when we had a flood and were without power. My parents and my sister, her husband, and their older son had all just come for a visit. With no power, we had no water since we had a well and no way to power the well pump. Ah, good times. The generator has come in handy a few times since then.

J22 -- hope your dog is back to himself. Twin B called me 2 different days this week worrying about Dory. We give both the dogs a dental treat each day and Dory has started holding hers in her mouth and walking around that way, looking like she's smoking a stogey. One day this week she held it in her mouth like that for about 3 hours. Kind of odd behavior. Another day she kept needing to go out and was having diarrhea. I don't know. She seemed OK last night, except for the anxiety that ramps up in the evening but eventually settles down (usually) with the trazodone. I gave Twin B permission to take her to the vet but he decided to wait and see. Ouch on the son's broken collarbone!! The birds sound like fun to watch on your ride. Someone spotted a bald eagle at our city lake and snapped a photo, which was in the weekly newspaper (gotta love small towns).

Joe, I miss handbells. When we lived in Indiana our church had a handbell choir. Every year there was a handbell festival for all the choirs in the area. They'd hire a conductor to come do a Saturday of workshops and rehearsals which ended with a vesper service with lots of music. It sounds exhausting now, but it was fun.

Tweety -- how cool to see Janis Ian!

My French press broke and I can't make my good coffee at work.

Looks like it will be mid-September before we get to move into the new hospital. I was planning a vacation for late September and now maybe I need to reconsider the timing. I haven't reserved anything yet, mainly because I'm lazy and indecisive.

Just one more grumble: If you want to HEAR the news on TV, fuhgeddaboudit. Nannie chooses the most 'critical' times to comment on the hair, ties, and looks of the news-reporters and people in-the-news, so you miss what is being reported.

AUGH!
