Threatened by family?

Have any of you been threatened by a family...seriously threatened or even jokingly?

Not in word (identifiable) but in deed.

I've been verbally and emotionally abused by more than one family. Had another call the cops on me (looooong story.) did I mention I'm fleeing PDN ASAP?

This thread begs the question- have you?

Yes. Just recently. Dad made some comments while holding a knife. Tried to play it off as a joke later then gave me the "it's my word against yours" crap. Yeah, no thanks...I don't need that nonsense.

are you still there? how did you get out of there in one piece?

I think he knew he messed up as soon as it happened. He has control issues and I think he was trying to regain "control" by making the he said/she said statement. His mind is obviously a strange place and I want no part of his "jokes".

And no, I'm not there anymore. I finished that shift and washed my hands of the case. Of course, the agency disliked being left hanging but too bad.

So glad you are out of there! I don't think I could have finished the shift.

Thanks! I was tempted to leave when it happened but decided to play it cool.

No longer work for the agency that kept telling me I would not be able to obtain a restraining order.

That is scary stuff. We do work with the public. They don't have to be background checked for our safety, but we have to be checked for their safety. One day, something will happen and a nurse will sue an agency. They agency will have been warned by a nurse that left the case and the agency will knowingly put another nurse in the dangerous environment.

I have since found out the agency knew the dad was a nut job with "issues". I told them they should have been honest with me in the beginning. I feel sorry for the nurse that replaces me.
