I have heard a rumor that there is an agency in Florida, that is hiring nurses for 13 week contracts in Kuwait for 250 thousand dollars. Anybody out there know anything?
My understanding is that Saudi Arabia as well as Kuwait governments contract with civilian recruiting agencies in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom to hire Nurses for employment in Saudi and/or Kuwaiti owned and operated hospitals. I'm not sure how the United States Department of Defense figures in this, if at all. Are you saying that Nurses who accept these positions from civilian recruiting agencies to work at Saudi and Kuwaiti hospitals are under the jurisdiction of the U.S. DOD? Any information you may have would be appreciated. Thanks.
This thread is giving me an idea. Instead of searching for a well paying travel job back in Chicago for this summer, I should investigate going to Kuwait or some such country for an even higher paying travel job. (I know the pay isn't 250K) I'm broke and looking for any way to continue to afford graduate school. How would I go about finding travel agencies that staff overseas? I'm semi-serious about this .... I have many misgivings about working in the middle east, given the political situation, and my aversion to veiling, but but but I have heard from a few RNs they made great money over there, there are good supportive expat communities, and they were treated very well by the hospitals, which are mostly staffed by westerners.

In areas like Kuwait, your not working for the Kuwaitis but for the DOD. The government has been known to bid out contracts for outrages amounts. now I agree SALTY1, it does sound high but for thirteen months the money sounds right.
