I am stealing this, because it's greatness. Also, YAY! You killed the gnat which might have...um...well...caused terror in the adolescent girls.
Feel free! I stole it from a friend long ago. And, yes, I shudder to think of what might have happened if I couldn't get that pesky bug...we'd have been on the news for sure. "Adolescent Girls Held Hostage by Gnat."

So, I don't work school health anymore, but I stay here because I adore you all with the power of a thousand fiery suns. And I figured no forum could appreciate this little gem more...
I work on an inpatient psych unit currently, adolescent girls. They really grow on you...but sometimes, I just have to shake my head at them. There was screaming from one room during a recent incident and I heard, "SHE'S GOT LICE!"
Now, we've just recovered from an actual lice outbreak so I was understandably a little nervous. I hurried down, to hear, "It was black and it just flew right out of her hair."
I explained, with great relief, that lice are not black and they do not fly. The girls remained suspicious. They then decided it was clearly a bedbug. Which may appear black if engorged, but - again - do not fly.
I managed to kill the offending bug in the room and take it for examination. It was a rare specimen, exquisitely smashed by yours truly...the common house gnat.
