Thought I’d start a tread for those of us applying to Thomas Jefferson CRNA program starting in 2020. Just submitted my application. Fingers crossed for an interview!

Ugh. Bummer. I got a rejection letter from Jefferson... but I got an invitation to interview with Penn! Good luck Jeff class of 2020!

Sorry to hear that. But congratulations on your Penn interview!!!
Regardless of the outcome, you have to just keep the effort going. You’re almost there ??

TreeKitty congrats on your Penn invitation! Question for you, did you submit the GRE for some schools? I still have not heard back yet from Jefferson but if I don't get into school this year, taking the GRE might be the next step for me.

I know for other schools they look at the GRE, but I went to an info session for Jefferson over the summer and I asked about it and they said they don’t look at it. So it might help you elsewhere, but if you’re thinking of this school in particular I wouldn’t bother !! ?

I never took the GRE, which was a major reason that I applied to Jeff. And I got in, so it’s definitely not a requirement or even helpful that I can see...

But it will definitely open the door for you to apply to many more programs as it is a common requirement. And while you can get past that requirement with a high GPA at some programs, its mandatory for all applicants at many more

Yea I know Jeff doesn't take it but its just a shame because I feel like my gpa is weighing me down and taking the GRE might help me at least get into a program. Who knows... This whole process is so stressful ?

Has anyone who applied in December heard back yet??

Nope but it looks like they started calling ppl back the last week of January from last year post.

@LouDogg Did you get your clinical site before deciding where to move? I will also be relocating to go to Jefferson. Well partially...I don't live that far away. I live in a neighboring state. You stated that the first semester is online...does this mean I don't have to pack up right away? ?

No I did not. You do not start clinical until the third semester. And you are not assigned a home-site until a few weeks before it starts. How it looks now, we will have our sites by middle of second semester-ish... maybe.. ?

I got a place pretty close to campus because I knew I’d be in class the first few semesters (the first semester is almost all online though. You only go to campus about 5 times for exams and orientation)

Most of the sites are relatively close to campus as well. Also, you will be going to several different sites to complete your required variety of specialty rotations, so a central location is not a bad choice.

Public transportation is good so you can find a lot of good places to live that are not in the center, and take the train in. Depends on your personal situation/preferences. There are nice towns in New Jersey that are cheaper and also along the train lines that make getting to class easy, but then you may end up very far from a clinical site.

I think being closer to campus is easier. And If you have less than a three-year lease, you can always change your mind... ?

The student housing apartments are expensive, if that’s what you mean. You’re better off finding your own spot... in my opinion.

The first semester is almost 100% online. You have to go to campus for orientation and to take two exams—if I remember correctly. There may have been something else we had to attend, I can’t remember. I think that’s it.

The second semester will be in-class two days a week, plus you have to come for a Patient Assessment class about 4 times throughout the semester for practice assessments and assessment exams with actors.

I pretty sure that in third semester you have two days in class and one clinical day per week.
