Hi.
I have been accepted into the TJU FACT program that begins in May but the orientation isn't until a week before classes begin and I would like to get a better idea of the scheduling. I know it's 5 days a week but does anyone have some more specific info? i have to arrange for child care and transportation and a general idea of the class/clinical hours would be helpful.
also...anyone else out there starting the program with me in May?
It was from our academic advisor, Sharon Burke, letting us know that if we want to get started on the reading material then we can "read the intro chapter in your pharm. book and the immune system/disorders in the Lewis text." (I had to follow up with her b/c her first email just said that the sylabi are "posted," but since no one is registered yet we can't access it). See you all on Tuesday.
Hey guys. New here.
@AtomicWoman: I got the fingerprinting done at the same place =] and was also alarmed by that little 6-8 weeks tid-bit, but received my results in less than a week. Took me like 10 minutes because my fingers just wouldn't scan. But anyway if you haven't done it yet, don't worry about it if they tell you 6-8 weeks.
@Jtb: I did not receive any info about syllabi but thanks for posting that!
Also, anyone know if tuition bills were posted yet? I don't want to be late on any payments. They said on that pre-matriculation requirement worksheet that they are due on the first day of classes, but that's coming up and I still haven't seen anything. And do we just pay online through banner or do we have to go bring them a check (or straight up cash in a suitcase =]) to their office.
And another question. Anyone know how necessary the Nursing Central software is? I know they say 'required' but from what I learned from my previous college experiences, 'required' sometimes is thrown around wildly. I don't want to spend $150 on programs that I might never really use. And I feel like there are cheaper alternatives in the iPhone/iPod App store; some are even free.
See you all in a few days!

Thanks for that clarification. I guess Sharon Burke isn't my advisor, since I didn't get that email. :)

First of all, welcome! :)
Supposedly, tuition bills were posted. We got an email late last week saying they were ready. I *think* they are due May 22, but double-check me on that, because I kept hearing "first day of classes" for the due date. I didn't pay a lot of attention to the email, because my tuition will be paid entirely via loans, so I don't have to come up with any $$ just yet. Jeff has to certify me to my lenders and tell them when to disburse the bucks.
I was wondering about the software, too. They *better* have us use it -- after spending plenty of money on the darn iPaq and the software. Maybe one of the current students can tell us if the software actually gets used.
See everyone on Tuesday.
I just d/led the nursing central software to my PDA, and I must say that it is pretty nice and handy. Other than during rotations, I think it will also come in handy for studying on the go, especially for pharm. I don't what to tell you about what "required" actually means, but I think you might have some difficulty getting around it...but double-check with current students first if you want.

Hey, someone sent me a PM about an email from Jeff about syllabi being available. I didn't get that message (even checked my Trash folder). Did anyone else get it, and what did the message say? Welcome to the topsy-turvy world of nursing school, I guess! :)
