Thinking of traveling to Reno

Published

Hey there people,

I have been speaking to a recruiter with Medical Express about an assignment to Reno, Nevada with Washoe Medical. This will be my first travel assignment, and I will be taking my family with me out West. I would like to eventually get to California to work, but this recruiter tells me that this will be a good opportunity (guaranteed 48 hpw), and that it will give me some traveling experience prior to being placed in California. Can anyone give me any feedback on Medical Express , and on Washoe in Reno? Your input would be greatly appreciated! Buford 1.

The feedback I remember was not positve. Try this thread of a search I just did and hopefully you can find out more. https://allnurses.com/forums/search.php?searchid=1888870

If it does not work, use key word, "Medical Express" and search advanced search (Top right orange toggle bar).

Let us know how you make out for the other Travelers who need this same info.

Reno was a great assignment for me. It was in the winter of 1990 though and I worked at St Mary's. Guaranteed OT is not a good thing. It leads to manditory OT and when you travel you need your time off. Who wants to go to the Greatest Little City and have to work all the time??? Have fun.

sory i just read your message. i am starting a job at Washoe on July 24th. i am also with medical express. today i have the jitters, never left home before even though i am 43 yrs old. so i am a bit scared. but determined. anyways... i have heard nothing but good things about washoe. hope to see u there.

depends what floor you are working on at washoe. theres a thread about the place in the nevada forum.

its not all fun and games, although the money is usually good as a traveller there.

I don't know alot about the hospitals in Reno. It is a fun place to live. In the summer there is alot of river rafting. In the winter, some great skiing. The mountains are really beautiful. I lived in a little town south of Reno called Minden. Most of the people up there are transplants, so the people are very friendly, I made some good friends who I still stay in touch.

I know this is late , but may help others now that the thread is active again . I have worked with ME for almost 4 yrs , it is just like any other company I have read about here , and that means that your recruiter will be a make or break experience for you , I have been among the highest paid at some of my accts when all things were added together , and I have been very underpaid with ME also . I have signed with 2 other companies but always have gone with ME (usually because of the choices in assignments )

My housing has always been great , but I hear they don't always have private housing .( I had a travel partner so we always made out on the housing deal). I have a good rappport with my recruiter , so that counts for alot . Since the 401k is a good deal with ME , I will probably finish out my 5 yrs for vesting then reevaluate , Hope this helps , Good luck !!

What floor would you be on? If you are serious about Reno (may be too late) Check with On Assignment. They offer great housing, great pay & rental car. I know Washoe is busier than St. Mary.
