  1. I am interested in travel nursing and have been reading the posts on this website with interest. I am looking at eventually going to California with my wife and kids. I own a home in another state in the Southeast. Can anyone give me any information about how long you can remain in a state such as California while still maintaining your tax home in your home state? Do you have to go back to your home state to work again within a certain amount of time? If you were to lose your tax home status, would your housing allowance and other benefits provided by the travel company impact your tax obligations significantly? Any feedback would be appreciated!
  2. Hey there! I finished with my BSN in the Summer of 2005 at USA, and have been working at the University of South Alabama Medical Center in Mobile since that time. I have a previous BS in Finance from USA back in 1983, so I went back for my second degree as an "older student". The course of study was pretty tough in comparason to my first degree, but it is "do-able"! I took two semesters of pre-requisites in order to get into the College of Nursing at USA, and then finished in two years. I knew some students who took the accelerated cirriculum, but I feel that there is so much to learn that it would have been too much for me to digest in order for me to be ready for the HESI and NCLEX exams. I am proud of the degree, and feel that the College of Nursing is a good one, and is well rated in the State of Alabama. I am looking into going into travel nursing after having placed one year in as an RN in Mobile. Good luck to you!
  3. Hey there people, I have been speaking to a recruiter with Medical Express about an assignment to Reno, Nevada with Washoe Medical. This will be my first travel assignment, and I will be taking my family with me out West. I would like to eventually get to California to work, but this recruiter tells me that this will be a good opportunity (guaranteed 48 hpw), and that it will give me some traveling experience prior to being placed in California. Can anyone give me any feedback on Medical Express , and on Washoe in Reno? Your input would be greatly appreciated! Buford 1.
