If you or someone you know got kicked out of NS, in your opinion was it for a logical reason? i.e. Not getting high enough grades, putting a patient in danger during clinicals, being late to clinicals numerous times, etc.
We had someone get kicked out in the final hour of our PN program. She got caught fudging her numbers for her preceptor hours and her preceptor called her out on it. She got caught like a week or two before graduation. Her site was a pediatric doctors office that she had wanted to go to, so I'm not even sure why she felt the need to lie. We only had to do 210 hours so it was wasn't even that bad. We lost a few people here and there for attendance and grades, they had to just join with the cohort after us and retake classes though, they didn't get dropped from the program.
It should be such, that if anyone were to fail out of the program, no one would know the reason why except for themselves and the director/committee that dismissed them. A few people I started with are no longer there but I have no idea why and do not consider it my business. Sure, we are all curious, and if someone were to tell others, well, that's why it's probably best to keep your business to yourself.
I had a very minor issue in my first clinical that was resolved with a quick meeting, but I learned then that sadly, many feel that NS is a zero sum game and somehow they will succeed better/quicker/faster by having their classmates fail. I find that mathematically absurd and socially backwards, but I swear to God, only my sainted mother will ever hear of any mistake I ever make from MY lips from here on in.
In my school, they do not kick out students because of low grades. They allow them to repeat the semester and retake the class they failed. I did hear of someone who was asked not to come back to a clinical site because they were late for multiple shifts. I think you really have to be negligent to be kicked out.

The most ridiculous stories I have heard from my nursing school was getting kicked out was missing orientation. My colleague missed it because of conflicting emails. And it was not the 1st year orientation; it was the 2nd year orientation. It just sucked none of his cohort bothered to call or text him.
