  1. We had someone get kicked out in the final hour of our PN program. She got caught fudging her numbers for her preceptor hours and her preceptor called her out on it. She got caught like a week or two before graduation. Her site was a pediatric doctors office that she had wanted to go to, so I'm not even sure why she felt the need to lie. We only had to do 210 hours so it was wasn't even that bad. We lost a few people here and there for attendance and grades, they had to just join with the cohort after us and retake classes though, they didn't get dropped from the program.
  2. Exactly! They were trying to not let us help, they just have such a routine and have so much they have to do I feel like CNA autopilot kicks in.
  3. Thank you!! I think I will try and jump back and fourth. My boyfriend works normal hours so I want to be able to spend our days off together. I really appreciate the advice!!
  4. I feel like during clinicals you really have to force your way into getting that hands-on experience. The first few days the CNAs I was shadowing would just do it all and I would watch but as we got further into it I would ask them to do it and volunteer for things. Then eventually I would just wait for call lights to go off and run in the room to help them. We did have some people in my class that didn't do that and they didn't get as much hands on. I was lucky to be in a facility that let us move around pretty freely though I guess. We didn't have to have someone standing over our shoulder the whole time. A lot of places may not be this relaxed.
  5. You don't actually have to wash them during the skills so I would say you were washing them as many times as you think is necessary during the skill (after removing gloves and whatnot) Our instructor told us, when in doubt just say you are washing them. They don't mark you down for fake over-washing your hands.
  6. Hey guys!! So I'm a new NAC in Washington state (we are NACs here and not CNAs, its weird) Anyhow, just got hired to my first job at a rehab facility and will be working nights. I've never worked nights before and need some advice on how to prepare for it? I've read some tips for dealing with being on nights and how to live healthier and sleep better once your working but what do I do to make my first few weeks the most successful and not fall asleep halfway through? Thanks guys!!!!
  7. So, I am getting ready to take mine in Washington and we were told that we just imagine the supply area as being apart of the patients room. We would knock and do our intro, privacy, etc and then just grab the supplies from the table. Not sure if it is the same where you are testing. I feel like your program director or instructor would know for sure. Where in AZ are you? I just moved from Tucson to Washington.
