i think I failed the nclex shut off at 76

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I took my exam Yesterday.

Shut off at 76 and all i got were multiple choice and SATA. a couple meds.

I honestly felt like I was swimming in the dark. The questions were not difficult to comprehend but the answers were so vague and similar. I felt like I was guessing.

I wasn't prepared for that. Nclex knows what they are doing. They do not play into popular diseases and or signs and symptoms that they know students will know. Its all random.

Im pretty sure I failed. I am hoping for the best but prepared for the worst. I studied ALOT. Two months. :(

My results are on hold right now so no Pearson Vue trick for me.****

I used Hurst and Uworld (avg 50%), little nclex mastery.

Any positive vibes would be appreciated. :)

Anyone have any luck with failing and switching up their study plan and becoming successful the second time.'

Or any tips in general would be appreciated :)

Well, first thing is you must read your CPR when it arrives: it is the basis for you to plan a new study strategy. How can anyone recommend what you should do, if you don't know where it went wrong?

The CPR will break down in what categories of testing you were above, below, or near passing. For the most part, 'near passing' in all categories (or most) would indicate you were ok on knowledge, but unable to demonstrate you had the ability to put it into action (application of knowledge, critical thinking skills). Programs that focus primarily on teaching how to apply knowledge to a given situation are Kaplan and similar---they assume you have content down, but critical thinking is a weakness.

Below passing....knowledge itself might be a problem. Content-based programs like Hurst, Saunders are the nuts and bolts: you cannot pass the NCLEX if you don't have the basics down.

At 76 questions, the computer determined pretty early on that you just didn't have what it took that day to pass....and it shut down. The CPR will tell you where the failing was.

Good luck next time!

I will definitely wait for my results and see me weak areas. i am thinking about doing NCSBN and a month Kaplan bank to study. Based on my experience i need help with strategy when it comes to the nclex. thanks everyone for their input
