Hi, I am wanting to put a list of the top 10 things nurses don't learn in nursing school. You know like on Letterman. I would really appreciate any and all input.

That you will be responsible for EVERYthing and EVERYone on your ward as charge nurse, that assigning LPN's and NA's may be the very worst part of your day as you may also be doing their job, the housekeepers job, respiratory, supply and transport!!:angryfire

I never knew... that I'd have to learn to repair mechanical equipment like feeding pumps (there should be a special place in hell reserved for the idiot that designed the auto-prime feature),:uhoh21:

Damn straight! Does everyone else drape the tubing over something while it primes, forget about it, and return to a puddle of tube feed on the floor? It seems I do this at least weekly. I've taken to hooking it up to the pt while there's still some air in the tubing. I figure they can burp up a few cc's of air and it saves me the mess!
