I have turned in many applications I bet at least 50 or more. I have had a few interviews but they seem to go nowhere. I checked on new grad programs but most don't start till june. Does anyone know of a hospital that is actually hiring new grads that are not currently working at their hospital as a tech.
There are plenty of new grad positions in KC right now. I know at least one hospital that isnt hiring until May, but Im sure they only hire twice a year (new grads).
Im just getting started in school, but I keep an eye on openings around here. Heck, move to KC! There seems to be plenty of openings, and I think we pay a bit better than STL anyway!
I am going to a lawyer to see about filing bankruptcy tommorrow. I am also considering on calling to the state boards to have my nursing license removed. I want to work in a hospital and I want to be able to help people. I had a call from a recruiter at barnes about 2 weeks ago whom seemed interested. He asked why I was not hired on my floor. Not wanting to call attention to my concerns with the evil supervisor, I just told him our floor was small and they had just hired two new grads. He sounded interested even made the comment that he was going to call that floor and speak with them. Later in the day I checked online and he had changed my application status to no longer under consideration. This is very evil. I don't understand why they let one person who hires her friends daughter whom I have personally seem put patients lives in danger. Destroy a persons career.

Have you tried LTC facilities? What about home health agencies? Perhaps you should try for positions outside of a hospital for now. Also, you may want to get a letters from people (i.e. instructors, clinical instructors, nurses who have worked with you) who can vouch for you to submit with your applications, or at least have their okay to use them as references. Also, have you contacted the recruiter back to find out why you are no longer under consideration? It would help if you knew what their concerns were so that you can fix them and do better in your application the next time around. I am sorry that you are having such difficulty, but don't give up. You may have to be creative in finding a job, and not just apply online. There have been some great suggestions posted in other forums on here. I wish you luck.

I understand you're frustrated, but don't understand the thinking behind this. Why would you do this, even if you CHOSE to go in another direction? Seems you worked so hard that to keep the license active would only make sense. The economy is bad right now, but I do know of one male that was hired on the floor where I was.
Hang in there...
Sorry to hear of your problems Joseph, I still haven't been able to find anything either. It's becoming a serious issue. I just can't understand this..I see so many job postings. I guess they either aren't really hiring all those positions are they aren't hiring GN's. Sometimes I wonder if they are even reading my resume or if they just see my name at the top and toss it aside because I'm male. I feel like I have a lot to offer in this profession and it's really hard to not even be acknowledged. :lol_hitti

I am in a similar situation, I am a male nurse who just graduated and I have found it impossible to find a job in St. Louis. I even have experience as an LPN but that has not seemed to help me. I see so many job postings for RN's yet I get no response on any of my applications. I have gotten a few calls from recruiters but then I don't ever hear back so I try to reach them and they never return my emails or calls. I am very frustrated and really need to find a job. If anyone knows of any leads, I would be so appreciative.
