I have turned in many applications I bet at least 50 or more. I have had a few interviews but they seem to go nowhere. I checked on new grad programs but most don't start till june. Does anyone know of a hospital that is actually hiring new grads that are not currently working at their hospital as a tech.

Yes, Texas (Brownsville I believe). If you want more info. let me know and I can get it for you. I posted my resume on many of the busy sites and have had so many phone calls and emails it's crazy. But somehow the majority of them missed that I'm a new grad and they'll call back if something comes up.
I have been seeking New Grad programs b/c it's important for me to get that solid foundation when I begin my nursing career, I hear way to many times that new grads are just thrown into it. I defiantly do not want that plus it's not safe! But I have been contacted from Virigina, Texas and a few others for New Grad programs.
I looked up two of the hosp. in Texas and didn't like what I read (however they have excellant sign on bonus, relocation fully paid and tution payback after 2 years, i think) and the others are far away, as I'm in Colorado. I mean I would go anywhere IF they had an excellant New Grad program. Tucson, Az. has a couple excellant New Grad programs but are currently full.
I love doing research and have been at this for awhile, so if you have additional ques. please feel free to contact me,
Cheers,
Kelly

Did you try the SSM hospitals we are always hiring new grads. let me know what you find out and i will check around and see what is available, are you looking at a specialty or med-surg to start out let me know.:onbch:
I have tried SSM I put in an app for new grad position. A recruiter called me said she would forward my info..now the recruiter does not return my calls, I will take just about anything to start. It looks like I am loosing my car and soon my apartment. Looks like I may be homeless. I thought getting my RN license was supposed to be a positive thing. Looks like it is the worst thing I could have ever done. I was working at Barnes until I passed my boards and now they wont let me work as anything but an RN because I passed my boards.

Why don't you want to work as an RN at Barnes? Just curious...seems like a natural step. I know they have a push on now to hire "100 nurses in 100 days". Good luck!
I have applied at almost 50 positions at Barnes Jewish Hospital, they keep turning down my applications It is my theory that a lead charge nurse that works days is giving me a bad rep. She has never really seen me work and she even once made the comment to me that she does not like male nurses. I Know that a while back she told a recruiter that I was not qualified to work and that the floor I was working on did not hire new grads. This was not true, like I said, she had never seen me work that much and our floor at that time had just hired about 5 new grads. I think that because our office manager is not there most of the time, she is taking the calls and ruining my efforts to get a job. I have been awake half the night trying to think of a way to keep my stuff when I loose my apartment. I have also been planning a way to tell the bank about my situation and to make arrangements for them to come and get my truck. It will ruin my credit. I can not work in the county with no transportation, I have to work in st louis. I should have never obtained my RN license. I from now on tell people to forget about getting a RN degree and do something else.

Have you contact someone in HR? If she is saying things about you then I am not sure but can't she get into trouble for slander? I am no legal expert so don't quote me on that. I would try with HR first and go from there especially since you have already worked there. There are plenty of floors there that hire new grads and if she is giving you a negative reference then that should be looked into. Also don't forget nursing homes. Not sure if you have applied to any.
Sorry to hear about the recruiters:crying2:, since the system went to centralized hiring it has been an ongoing problem. Try calling the hospital you are interested in directly and ask to speak to someone in that facility's HR and ask for a number to speak to the manager of the recruiters so you can get some follow up information. Earning your RN is a great thing to be proud of & about barnes,:angryfire and I also would look into whoever is saying things that are incorrect about you. I have also heard if you're able to relocate to Springfield Mo they are hiring new grads at St Johns, and have you checked out any career fairs that always seem to be abundant to introduce yourself to other facilities in the area.
I have cheched with the HR at Barnes. The person at the front desk stated, they do not have any control over what is said and that they can not or do not look into what is being said.

It sounds odd that your employer didn't know you were in nursing school...unless you have corrective action in your file, you should be able to transfer to another area within the Barnes-Jewish system.
