@maaz Hey there,

Could you provide some insight about orientation? I know things may differ for the 2023 cohort, but I wanted to know if it's a full week? I read in a past forum that it was the last week in May, was that the case for you?

Hey! Orientation was 2-3 days. May 25-May 27, 2022, where school started the following week, on 6/2. I moved back to Austin on 5/24 and gave myself a week to re-orient myself to the city + get some school stuff in order. It worked out well and I didn't feel too rushed.

@maaz Thanks so much!

Hey everyone,

Congrats on all the acceptances! I'm in the last semester of the foundation year for Leads (foundation year is the same for all tracks).

Please feel free to ask if you have any questions at all about what the foundation year will be like! I came in with zero medical experience so things like skills lab and clinicals were totally new to me. If I can do it then you can too! ?

Hey @hannah2898!

What is the schedule like after the initial Summer semester?

@LeeahG This was my schedule for fall:

M: 0630-1430 Mini-mester clinical (hospital)

T: 0630-1530 Adult health I clinical (hospital)

W: 0900-1200 Adult health II theory, 1500-1730 mini-mester theory (both in person at the nursing school)

Th: 0630-1430 Mini-mester clinical (either at the hospital or another site depending on what class)

F: 1030-1230 Mini-mester theory, 1330-1530 skills lab (both in person at the nursing school)

For the mini-mesters, we rotate through mental health, perinatal, pediatrics, and public health! Each class lasts for 7 weeks (I think).

Hey guys!

I am applying in August for the 2024 cohort. Just wanted to reach out to see if anyone had any advice for pre-applicants on our SOP/CV or just general advice.
I plan on applying for the LEADS program. My stats aren't great but I feel hopeful my personality/passion and experience will shine through during the process.

currently completing some pre requisites.

Congrats to everyone who got in!

Hey guys! I wanted to ask if anyone knows a good affordable off campus  apartment for rent or even is here anyone looking for roommates?

Specializes in Nursing.

I lived at 3218 Harris Park Ave. Years ago when I was in undergrad. There were 4 units. The front building is a duplex with A and B units both being 2 bedrooms. It's still owned by the same guy. It was super affordable years ago and was the last time I checked. It's worth a try!

Thank you Austin Native!

I would look at Miller properties to see if they have anything. I lived at their 38th street building in a studio and it was awesome. Super cute and affordable and about as close to campus you can get without living in west campus.

Do we know how many were accepted in each program? Looking forward to this process next round! Did most who wanted LEADS get in?

Thankful for this group.
