Hi everyone! Thought it would be helpful to make a thread for students planning on applying for UBC's Nursing Program for 2024! Use this as a platform to ask questions and share info for nursing applications ? Good luck to you all!!
VanLpn said:I am applying for 2024! Working on my Bio 235 through Athabasca right now. It's awful and have to basically learn it on your own. I just scheduled my Casper exam for Feb 1st. I have applied twice before ? . I didn't do well on the Casper and that was what did it for me last time. I have a strong application and decent grades.
I'm doing the same course and the same CASPer (GL!). Perhaps if you don't mind leaving me your contact info we could help each other out?
Thanks for the response! Yes I applied to UBC Vancouver accelerated program but it wouldn't let me put it as my top choice so I emailed them and she said I have to but UBCO nursing as my top choice and UBC Van as my second choice and I thought it was so strange. I was wondering if that happened to anyone else
Yes I applied with UBCO nursing as my first choice and UBC van nursing as my second choice. I was already accepted to UBCO in February so just waiting to hear from UBC van now. I was just curious if this happened to anyone else. It's just a little annoying because UBC Van is my top choice. I don't want to go to UBCO at all so kind of a useless application LOL
Thank you congrats to you as well! I'm graduating this Spring with my BSc in chemistry and my CASPer score was fourth quartile I think! How about you? Will you pursue TRU if UBC doesn't work out? I'm trying to decide if it's worth it for myself to do a four year program or keep applying to accelerated ones
I am an LPN with almost 3 years university credits. Casper score 3rd quartile😟. My TRU degree will be almost 2.5 years due to LPN experience. I think I'll go for TRU if UBCV does not work out. I am so scared it's very competitive
You can try UNBC as well they have 20 months accelerated program in Prince George
I think you'll get into UBCV but you can look into UNBC as second option
I have looked into UNBC but unfortunately I'm missing a lot of the prereqs required for it 😕 so I'd have to continue more schooling before I can apply. But wow! being an LPN is a huge advantage, I'm sure you have a high chance of getting into UBC! I don't really have any healthcare experience so my supplemental appl might not be too strong

Hi! I am planning on applying to BCIT's Sept 2024 intake as well. I have heard really good things about their program, in that their nurses tend to be well prepared after entering the "real world" as new grads. Compared to UBC's 20 month program, BCIT's program is 3 years but I know they seem to have better breaks in between semesters (e.g. all of December off and some time off during the Summer). With UBC, we still have a semester over the Summer with a smaller break I believe in August? For me personally, I believe that having longer breaks could be useful for my mental health, considering nursing school is not easy. But in the end, whichever school we go to, we will get our degree and become nurses ?
