Hi everybody... I got my letter today and I wasn't accepted but I am ranked third on the alternate list. I didn't post this in the Pre-Nursing forum because, well... I figured people actually in the programs would be a bigger help. :)
I was just wondering if anybody knows a rough amount of how many people decline their offer or choose not accept for whatever reason? I'm sure this varies, but, I feel like being third on the alternate list is good, cause it seems close to the top, but... on the other hand, I keep thinking that that means THREE PEOPLE need to decline for whatever reason, and that to me seems like a lot!
So frustrating. Thanks for your help! :redbeathe

Third on the list sounds really good! If I got that letter, I would prepare *as if* I had been admitted. That way, when your acceptance letter comes, you won't be running around getting vaccinations, doing your BLS, etc.
Having said that, I don't know how big your program is, so 3 people could be a lot. At my school that would not be a lot, because they take over 100 people per semester.
Stay hopeful!! Sometimes people back out of a program at the last minute. So don't get discouraged. I changed my mind about which program I wanted to be in 4 weeks before the semester started. I felt bad that someone was going to have to run around like a chicken with her head cut off, but hey, s/he got in and that's what counts!
Thanks for the encouragement! Our program is nowhere near to accepting over 100 people... there are 40 spots but the last few semesters they've only been taking about 30ish people. One of my friends told me today though, that last semester 2 people they knew of got the alternate letter and got in. So fingers crossed! Thank you again! :)
