I work in a home that's quite beautiful, but really cluttered and not very clean. You know the type- a microwave you cringe to put your food into, gross flaky-things on the back rim of the toilet... Anyway, right after New Year's I noticed some cleaning had been done, yey! New resolution? Nope! After a few days the mom mentioned that the newer nurse gets bored so she cleans. I wasn't sure if Mom was hinting or what. I sort of laughed and told her she's lucky because that's not what she's paid for, that she's doing her a freebie. I told her I had no problems doing her child's laundry, though. But she hasn't taken me up on it. Do you have other nurses on your cases doing things that parents are starting to expect from you too?
The case is good overall. I just clean up after myself. I have never scrubbed their toilet or done any sort of cleaning. I initial the paper. I tell myself that it's not a lie since I clean up after myself...I leave as I found it.
Oh yes, and even if you did I understand that every case is unique. I once worked in a home with 2 children needing care. Well one of the other kid's nurses was so hyper she would start cleaning everything in sight because she was bored. The rest of us were actually glad as this gal could get on your nerves if she wasn't busy....=-O
Nurses getting bored should even fly anymore as a reason to clean everything,as that's what tablets, smartphones, etc are for.If I get bored(which is very often at night) I just watch a movie or pay bills on the internet.
Boredom solved!
Nurses that get bored, need to choose a different job. This job isn't for them. I bring things to do so nobody is disturbed and so I have something to do.
